The pods were clean, well maintained, comfortable and facilities were good. The log burner warmed the main pod up nicely. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Unique glamping experience with the animals on your doorstep. Pods cleaverly located to give an element of privacy with separate pod for kitchenette and bathroom and decking area to enjoy al fresco dining. Lovely fire to keep main pod warm during autumn months and although good to get away from TV etc. WiFi access is a bonus. Staff friendly and helpful and with access to the zoo throughout opening times, makes for a different way to stay on this beautiful island.
An amazing place to stay. Al couldn't do enough for you ensuring your stay was perfect.
You go to bed with the animals and definitely wake up with them.
The sunset after hours walk through the zoo is also a must.
Will definitely come again.
First time glamping and this ticked all the boxes and more. On site so close to lemur enclosure and a pleasure to obseve from the camp. Our pod had its own ktchen and bathroom.wood burber in the pid. Sundeck and chairs.free admission to the zok and 2 well priced restaurants that were open from 9.30 for some home cooked food. An added bonus for us is that the camping cost helps to support the conservation of the animals. Keeper talks well worth attending.
A unique experience in many ways: for couples with young children, or older adults like us. You get a well equipped large dome-shaped bedroom tent plus another for shower and loo and a kitchen and finally a little yurt for kids. Each family area is separated by living willow hedges and with a green area in the middle; all beautifully planted like the Durrell Wildlife Park itself. As you are on the other side of the fence from the animals, you do hear various speciesl of lemurs and the loud howler monkeys at somewhat unsocial hours. The staff are excellent: extremely helpful. The dome tents have a wood burner; check that yours is complete. Ours wasn't and in late September the temperature dropped dramatically at dusk and we had a very cold damp night. Next morning repairs were carried out however and we had been offered a room in the hostel if there had still been a problem.
Lovely yurts very clean and comfortable. Idyllic setting on the edge of the wildlife park, organised layout to give privacy. Unlimited access to park during opening hours. Very polite and helpful staff, would highly recommend a visit.
Outstanding! Our camping area was cleverly private and scrupulously clean - everything has been thought through, from the ice-box system to the fire-irons. Al, our camping host, was welcoming, informative and did everything to make our stay seamless and special. Don't miss the dusk tour, our guide Hannah was passionate and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time getting to know her beloved wetland birds and getting close to the lemurs. The park itself is well managed - zoos are much maligned (and some rightly so) but the park's conservation work is clear to see. Would recommend going into the park at the start and end of the day when visitors are scarce - we had some magical moments including playing peek-a-boo with an orangutan. You can walk from the camp along the cliffs to Bouley Bay where we ate fresh-dived scallops. For fine dining Bohemia is recommended. Thank you Jersey, we'll be back.

Durells Glamping
Lovely setting, but a bit basic to be called glamping, needs a few more added extras , i.e. , extra blankets as nights very cold , and not to charge so much for an extra small bag of logs to keep log fire going longer . Staff Ali as always was excellent,
Fabulous experience when the weather is good but be prepared for being very cold at night in the shoulder months, even with the wood burner going.
Pristinely clean and hosts very friendly, idyllic peace in the sunshine and I should think amazing with young children.
Only downsides are that you only get to go in the park during normal opening times (or twilight at extra cost), whereas it would have been great to get up, grab a cuppa and wander around watching the animals wake. Also, the pancakes on the breakfast menu are reheated shop bought ones and not freshly made which was disappointing. Minor in the grand scheme of things though.
We had a lovely few days glamping at Durrell. The "pods" are spacious and we found the stove in the sleeping pod very effective (necessary at the end of October). Having hot water on tap was very welcome and the children loved being able to run around and be outside despite the weather. Our toddler also loved the open kitchen shelves which were just at her height.
The kitchen/dining area is unheated, so for the time of year we found that once we had cooked it was too cold to sit in there which meant joining our sleeping young children very early in the bedroom pod. I imagine it would be lovely in the spring/summer, though.
The experience was amazing! we did 2 nights but could have done with longer . I was worried it would be a damp tent..but the linen was fresh and clean.and as long as the wood burner was on it was a good temperature.
Great facilities for camping and spotlessly clean. Even though the lemurs wake you up early it is all part of the experience. Would certainly stay again.
