Wonderful stay at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel.
We initially booked a 2 night stay at The Seven Stars, and found the hotel very comfortable, and well positioned in the centre of Totnes. On the second night, taking into account the comfort of the hotel and the exceptional friendliness, and helpfulness of all the staff, we decided to book for another night, and as an additional bonus, benefited from a generous discount on the standard rate for the room. I’m sure we will return to The Seven Stars later in the year.

Above and beyond
what an absolute pleasure the staff for first class, then knowledge of the hotel the food they were serving and the surrounding areas were absolutely encyclopedic. The bed I could’ve slept in all day it was so peaceful and quiet and a fabulous big bathroom the night manager/Porter, Adrian absolutely Top gentleman who was able to tell me where to go to eat where to go to visit, and he knew absolutely everyone

Hotel gorgeous receptionist friendly and inviting room clean and just right for the cost. What let it down was the drunk member of staff whom made all guest feel uncomfortable and the fact the bar closed at 10pm as a result of this we believe. Unkempt and unfriendly welcome for breakfast the next morning which made us decide not to book a extra night and go somewhere else instead

Having grown up in Totnes, I've known the area for a long time, and the Seven Stars is perfectly central, easy 10 min walk from the train station now moved away, and a comfy bed, decent sized room with a fine powerful shower. The door to the bathroom might need some work but this is a very old building and no issues generally!

Christmas Market Stopover
The location is fantastic but the room we had was very tired and needed repairs. The bathroom handle came off whilst I was in the bathroom. Luckily, my relative was on the other side to help me out. The screws were loose, and it had obviously not been repaired before our stay. The shower was not as clean as it could have been, pink scum around the silicone and the screen needed a scrub.The bed was very comfortable and lovely, clean linen. Tea and coffee tray was well stocked. We had to ask for toilet rolls as only half a roll was supplied. The bar staff were not over welcoming and I felt like a number rather than a valued customer A large wine was £9.50, slightly more than I expected. Bar food was ok, just average, but the chips were delicious. It was Xmas market night and I appreciate that the staff were busy but customer service was lacking, no smiles, food pushed at us and no thank you, come again. However the reception team were fab, carried up my mums suitcase, pleasant attitude and welcoming. I would stay again for the location but I would eat and drink in another establishment for a better customer experience.

Old English style hotel with character
Old but classic type Inn....friendly staff both at the hotel and the bar / restaurant. Bar area had a nice energy each night. Smack in the middle of downtown Totnes...on the bottom of the main street hill. Great amenities around RSSH too.

A Totnes institution with bags of character...really top staff who offer great service...very comfortable nights sleep. A busy bar and really good food on offer.....and all at a reasonable price...will be back !

Great stay.
Character stay in the centre of Totnes, excellent value. Clean, functional with the only negative being parking, but at £2 overnight across the road at Morrison's, i didn't consider this a major issue.

Perfectly acceptable standards, friendly staff, Only just managed to get into the carpark which has limited number of bays. Disappointed that on return to the hotel at 11pm we were unable to get a last drink at the bar or even a coffee.

Nice older hotel in town, near the train station.
Older hotel close within walking distance of the rail station. Outstanding guest services in the hotel and pub. Food and drink was good. In town, close proximity to shops, services and transportation. Older building and has some of the squeaks and scrapes that go along with them. Having only a few electric outlets in the room was the only bothersome thing for me. No lift if that matters to you, I enjoy climbing stairs. Nice property for the value, would stay again.

Stayed one night at The Royal seven Stars and would happily return! Even though they were busy I was given a very warm welcome, the bar was well stocked and comfortable and the lunch was excellent. All the staff were attentive and efficient, the young man who welcomed me at reception was charming and very helpful. My room was comfortable, spotless and the Elemis toiletries in the bathroom were gorgeous. I spent a quiet night there and would happily recommend!

Great check-in, service and room. Staff were always available to answer questions and were very welcoming. Seven Stars is great for accessing the high street. Would stay again. Room was good, few signs of wear and tear in room, but that was to be expected in such an old building.

overnight stay before meeting group.
We were due to meet a group on the Friday but had to travel down to Totnes the night before due to the industrial action on the railways. The hotel is situated in the centre of Totnes and is an old coaching inn. it is an old building so the floor in the bedroom was not level which is not unusual. We had a premier room which was spacious and very oldie worldie which we loved. the bathroom had a spa bath (Jacuzzi) in it which I tried out. Never used one of these before so it was a new and pleasant experience. We did not eat in the hotel apart from Breakfast with was very good. the continental was not as wide ranging as some chain hotels but it was still good. the cooked breakfast was one of the best i've had for years. everything was freshly cooked rather than oven baked and pulled out to order. the produce was sourced fairly locally which is a sustainable fact they should be commended for. Being situated in the centre of Totnes it is about 10-15 minutes walk from the station along a main road with good footpaths. There are 2 main roads to cross but both are via controlled crossings, one being a Zebra. There are plenty of restaurants around and the castle is a short walk away up the hill. We intend to stay there again and use it for a longer trip visiting local places in the area.
