Great ryokan
Staff are fluent English speakers and very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Rooms are comfortable. They are small but then this is Shinjuku so has to be expected. If you like Ryokan then you will like this one. I will certainly return here next time I am in Shinjuku.

Great spot.
All the staff were super friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. Plenty of little bars and restaurants in the area, but not loud or too busy. Close access to subway.

We appreciated the quiet and peaceful nature of this off-the-beaten-path ryokan. The hoteliers were some of the most hospitable people we have ever stayed with. They chatted with us a lot about the area and our plans in Japan. We highly recommend this unique traditional living experience. You will stay in a small room with a comfy mattress on the floor.

This modern ryokan concept for Western visitors is somewhere between a youth hostel and a regular hotel. It was a great value for the price. The place is spotless and the staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Part of the experience is the other travelers staying. Most were very considerate but there was one couple from Western Europe that was loud well after quiet hours began. However, the staff asked them to be quiet and they complied.

Felt decidedly unsafe
While I can certainly understand that specific customs and accommodations do differ in Japan vs. other places, I was shocked by the fact that the “room” was so small (barely enough room to turn around, let alone lie down) and completely lacked a door or any other way to meaningfully secure my belongings. I wound up lugging all of my valuables with me everywhere I went in Tokyo for fear that I might be robbed if I left them in the hotel. At night, I lay awake tossing and turning, fearful that a stranger could enter my room at any time. Not recommended, despite the reputation for safety that Japan as a whole deservedly enjoys.

Of course we know we are different from other hotels. That’s our concept. Other guests are delighted to stay with our hotels. We keep trying to get understanding about our hotel in advance. We hope you can stay a perfect hotel during your trip.

Hard to sleep, but lovely service
Sleeping on a tatami mat on a thin futon after 5 hours of a train ride isn’t fun, so don’t make the same mistake as us! It’s very hard and you can feel the floor - but this is a typical Japanese ryokan, so we got the experience we were after. You share a bathroom with your floor and the rooms aren’t fully separated from each other so you can hear the other people moving around. They provide ear plugs, but I recommend going somewhere where it’s more private than this to get the full experience.

기가 막히고~... 코가 막히고~...
욕조가 저게 전부라고 생각하지 못했습니다. 숙소에 있는 모든 인원이 저 욕실 하나를 공유하고 이용객이 있으면 기다려야 합니다. 서양인들에게는 신기하게 보일진 모르겠지만, 한국 사람에게는 되게 좋지 않은 듯 합니다. 이불에 진드기 먼지가 많은지 알레르기 비염 수술을 한 뒤 이 숙소에서 처음으로 코가 막혀 잠을 설쳤습니다. 2박을 예약했지만, 1박 후 바로 호텔로 옮겼습니다. 솔직히 1박에 4~5만원이면 모르겠지만 이 가격에 이런 시설은 너무하다는 생각이 드네요. 차라리 몇 만원 더 주고 좋은 호텔로 잡으세요. 게다가 역에서 숙소 가는 길이 캐리어를 끌고 갈 길이 아니에요. ㄹㅇ 내가 돈이 많아서 가난한 사람 체험하고 싶다 하면 오면 돼요 (일본 전통 체험이 아니라 가난 체험)

Fantastic Ryokan in greaf location!
I had a lovely time at this Ryokan! The staff were very friendly and good humoured and helped lift the atmosphere (which was already very friendly!). I loved the Onsen / bath house and the breakfast, and the general charm of the place. The lock box for valuables was very good, but maybe it could’ve been a little bit larger in case you have several items (I only just managed to squeeze in mine). The staff also gave very good tips for places to go for food etc, and I ended up having a fantastic time at a nearby restaurant talking to locals and eating great food! The only thing that keeps this from being a 100% perfect score is the check out. I was first told to wait for someone, and after 25 minutes I asked if someone were coming, only to be told that I didn’t need to check out and it was OK (by the same person). This was a bit frustrating as I wasted a fair bit of time on a day with a long journey ahead but it is still a relatively minor issue that can be easily fixed. I heartily recommend this place!!

Ryokan typique dans le quartier ancien de Shinjuku
Accueil très agréable. Ryokan propre et confortable pour un hôtel à la japonaise : Box, tatamis et futon.. Situé dans une vieille ruelle du quartier ancien, l'accès est piétonnier.

전반적으로 만족
장점-직원들이 친절하고 방 깨끗하고 시설도 깔끔함 안내문이 전부 영어로 써 있어서 읽기 쉬움 직원들도 영어 의사소통이 가능함 단점-골목에 위치해서 역에서 찾아가기 힘듬

昔の日本？の宿が体験できる
宿のコンセプトを理解した上で、宿泊すると楽しめると思う。 普通のホテル感覚では驚くしかない。だけど、信じられから二駅、駅も近いし結構いいと思う。 寝るだけならお得な感じはします。
