A bit noisy at night being on main road, Mini Bar wasn't really a mini bar. Otherwise very good accommodation for the price.

The hotel although dated is in good condition, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Close to Caroline Bay gardens and walking area. Easy walk into the main street for eating and shopping.

The Hotel was great but I won't use expedia again. We we arrived we stated we only had 2 people not 3 but we where dept direct by Expedia for 3 people. If I’d booked direct we would have saved approx $76. Not good. It would be great if I was credited $76 back to me.

Run down Hotel and rooms. We had a Family room and paid $180 for it. Nothing in the room apart from beds and a old broken couch that was full of old food, stained and had a few years of people’s belongings underneath it. Floor felt wet so couldn’t walk round in bare feet. Family room that right by the main road so a lot of noise. Would of been ok for $100 but far to expensive for what you get.

Somewhat disappointed, loud noisy party in room next to ours. When I queried why in a pretty empty hotel, people were in a room right next door, was told there was no one in the room - they woke us up from 3.30, and were still cursing and swearing at 4.30am - we were unaware there was a night porter or how to contact them - the big issue was denying there was anyone in the adjoining room and very clearly there was! Also no cooked breakfast or restuarant available, despite being advertised on the expedia website.

This hotel is a bit of a curate's egg. It is trying to be a hotel, whilst really it is a Motel, squeezed in between other similar Motels. When I say squeezed in I mean that every centimetre of land is used up and the entrance from the main road (Highway 1) could be considered dangerous given that it is hidden, narrow and on a blind bend in the road. We booked a superior room and whilst there was enormous space, the rooms had clearly not been prepared for our visit. It was seriously cold and could not be properly heated, plus the electric blankets did not work. The plus points of his and hers showers and basins were let down again by poor heating in the bathroom. A heated towel rail would have helped. There was no proper working sink in the kitchen and the basic kitchen equipment left a lot to be desired. The road outside the building is BUSY, and road noise did come through the windows, We are currently three quarters of the way through a 24 day tour of the South Island of NZ and this was one of the most expensive rooms we have booked to date, but by far the worst in value for money. Fortunately, this was just a one night stop over between longer stays in Dunedin and Christchurch, so no real damage done to our holiday, but we would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to stop. Timaru, however, seems quite a pleasant place with a lively high street and many restaurants.

Booked via Wotif on a non-refundable booking. Travel plans changed so phoned the hotel to see if there could be a change to the booking - was told yes. We checked in a day later and reception laughed that we had already wasted a night by not showing up! Room was tired and old, no AC, hot and the only way to cool it down was to open the door to the balcony and main road. Would NOT recommend the service, staff or the room!
