The small village on Mykines only has about a dozen year long residents. The helicopter supplies them twice a week and takes them to one of the other islands if they have the need. During the summer many visitors come to see the birds that nest on the island or one of the islets close by. There are also summer residents many who have family history on the island. This old stone building houses supplies and equipment.

The island of Mykines is known for nesting Puffins and other seabirds. It is a spectacular place to visit. The hiking was a bit challenging for me as were the heights, but the views were worth it.

A distant view of Drangarnir, one of the most interesting natural landmarks in the Faroe Islands! Drangarnir is the sea stacks in the middle. I took this photo in/near the village of Bøur. Shortly after I visited another iconic landmark: Múlafossur Waterfall! I wish I had time to get a close-up view of Drangarnir, though. It is truly otherworldly! I took this photo on August 29th.

Risin og Kellingin, meaning Giant and the Witch, are two sea stacks off the coast of Eysturoy island. Their height is 71 meters (232 ft) and 68 meters (223 ft).
