"The hotel was refurbished in February 2026 but the lift wasn’t working yet. The rooms looked lovely but it had single glazed windows so it was extremely noisy because the hotel is on the High Street. Lots of cars going past with loud exhausts and blaring music until the early hours so it disturbed my sleep. Bed and pillows were comfy. Unable to open windows to get air in. Found a toenail and false finger nail on the floor. Room door shuddered whenever someone opened or closed their room door nearby. No soundproofing, could hear all conversations in the corridor. Car park didn’t feel very safe, seemed quite rough and it was an additional fee."

"The room was immaculate and everything was working as it should. Staff were really helpful when we had a problem paying for the car park. Staff were really friendly, greeting us and showing an interest in why we were there."

"Lovely big room with everything we needed. We did have a step into the bathroom which customers need to be aware of. Bathroom was super clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We needed to check in early and our bags were kept safely although our room was ready for us soon after our arrival. Breakfast was great value for money. Tea and coffee was served at the table with continental or full English options available. Had a drink outside on the street side terrace in the sunshine before walking to the Curve theatre/city centre which is approximately a ten minute walk away. The bar was open on our return later in the evening and served our party a good variety of drinks including cocktails and tea and coffee. Overall a lovely welcoming experience and would recommend if you’re looking for a city break."

"Room was dated, with leather peeling off the chair, no desk as advertised, no iron or ironing board available in rooms. There is an ironing room, the board leave marks all over your clothes. Had to fill in forms asking strange questions on check in. "

"My nephew and I had to relocate our hotel from the Premier at the last minute due to a change in the date of the Leicester City game, so we booked into the Bell Gate House. Having seen some reviews, we weren't expecting a great deal, just somewhere to sleep. However, despite the unassuming entrance in a perhaps slightly rundown area of town, we were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was very clean and smart, even included (a very slightly bashed) fridge, which we didn't use. We were told by the very friendly manager (owner?) that the beds and mattresses in our room were brand new - and they were the most comfortable beds we have slept on in a hotel for a long while. The only fault in our room was the hose to the shower was a bit leaky, but you are getting wet in the shower anyway so that didn't matter! And yes, the thread on the stair carpet wa a bit bare - but very clean. We knew that breakfast wasn't included. For the price, this is the best value hotel in Leicester!"
