The property is right on the beach. Wildlife can be seen on the property. The owners and staff were wonderful, even though there was a lot of upcoming uncertainty with the virus. They made a lovely breakfast every day for us. We were able to use the grill on two nights. We are praying for them and all the people of Costa Rica. Tourism is the main source of income in Costa Rica. As soon as we get past this, please visit this property and many more in Costa Rica.
We loved everything about our stay here. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming, the beds were comfortable, room was clean and had everything we needed, and best of all - the hotel was peaceful and quiet with beautiful views and great access to beaches and restaurants without the crowds and party-ers. The breakfast that is included is wonderful and the monkeys, iguanas, and birds were a highlight. We plan to come back and would recommend this hotel to our friends for sure.
This small, family-run hotel was a beautiful treat! The owners prepared a delicious breakfast served beach-side under monkey-laden trees.
The owners clearly love Hotel Casa Blanca and treated us like welcome family!
Amazing hotel just steps from the beach! Nice and quiet, away from the loud main strip. The breakfast is amazing here! Also, if you are looking to see some monkeys and iguanas, they love the trees right out front. Highly recommended!
Make no mistake. The only positive of this hotel is location, by the ocean, however you can not swim because it is just by a river and there are crocodiles. The french people who run the hotel are pretty rude for the Costa Rican standard. Rooms are clean but super old (paint and the scarce old and damaged furniture) and simply "empty"... some people will call it "minimalist" but, it is far from the minimalist concept of a W hotel... Breakfast included...well... for us it was just croissants and toasted bread with industrial jam... other guets got luckier and had english muffins and eggs... the person in charge told me that she was by herself and did not have time to cook for everyone so, since it was our first and only night we had "french breakfast". For additional $20 you can go to the Wyndham, brand new with an infinity pool.
Hotel Casa Blanca is a family-owned hotel. It is small and quiet, as the junction of the estuary and the ocean in Tamarindo. Though it looks out on the ocean, you have to walk about 2 minutes around the corner to get in the water [chance of crocodiles in the river mouth]--or, for a $1, take a very short boat ride across the river to the peaceful Playa Grande. Around the corner from the hotel, the chaos of Tamarindo beach awaits, in contrast to the serenity of the hotel. The garden is beautiful--full of iguana. We had a morning with a pack of howler monkeys in the trees, fun for us tourists. Each morning, Alexia bakes fresh breads--English muffins, croissants, brioche, baguette. She even made special treats for my children--bread with chocolate and hot chocolate, which they loved. She and Olivier also gave us restaurant recommendations and tips about handling vendors. The restaurant Pangas right next door is also a lovely perk--a beautiful spot for watching the sunset during drinks and/or dinner. This is a great location to serve as a base for your adventures.
I had an excellent stay and i spent most of my time doing tours. The area is excellent and right on the beach. Alexia was pretty responsive when i called since i got there a little early. Bed was great and spacious and the terrace was awesome with a view to die for. Property staff were always smiling. I wish i've spent more time at the property and i only had their experienced their breakfast on my last day which was awesome. I'd definitely come back to this property!
We loved this little bed and breakfast! Such a beautiful location right on the beach and a short walk to shops and amenities. The bed was very comfortable, we both had a wonderful sleep. There were so many cool birds and wildlife, we woke up to a pack of monkeys right outside our door! It feels like you’re in the jungle and away from the hustle of the city. The included breakfast was very fresh and delicious and the restaurant next door was very convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Alexia helped me arrange a shuttle to the airport and was very accommodating when I wanted to change the time. The only downside was that we were only able to stay for one night!
Fantastic Rustic Boutique Hotel with an amazing view. Highly recommend and we will return for sure. Check in and late check-out was accommodated, breakfast was delicious, staff was gregarious and helpful.
I wanted to write a REALLY thorough review, but not enough space.
This is a beautiful, yet simple, hotel on one end of the beach, a little away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the beach. You could walk to the hotel directly from the beach.
We woke up to the Howler monkeys crossing through the trees in the backyard. The staff are the sweetest people ever and made our stay unforgettable. Especially Yendry, the housekeeper, who left us a beautiful surprise on the night of our wedding. The sweetest!
The backyard was kept impeccably clean, with a fantastic view of the point where the river meets the Ocean. Tamarindo is an early town. Wake up early and go to bed (relatively) early. The mgrs allowed us to respectfully hang out with some friends in the backyard after hours, and we did our best to stay quiet. Security was present all night, friendly, and we felt entirely safe.
A few times, yes we saw ants on the walls, but with the AC on, they disappeared.
Coffee flowed freely every morning. If you opt for breakfast, it was a lovely fruit bowl with fresh eggs and often times home baked French goodies from Alexia, the owner.
Wifi was good. Don't come here expecting to spend the day inside. Come to enjoy your stay in Tamarindo, go on adventures, enjoy the beach, or hang out in the yard. Oh, you're also next door to the best restaurant, Pangas. However, when they hold weddings (like ours) it can get loud, but not past 10P.
THANKS CASA BLANCA!
would write more if I could
Do not stay here. My husband and I booked this hotel for two nights in 2019. Upon arriving, there was construction and we were told we would have to pay for the free breakfast. They had to move our rooms due to constriction and overbooking. The final room they put us in was so hot, so we turned on AC and went for a walk and to eat. Upon returning, everyone was gone expect and new contracted security guard who had no access to vacant rooms. We walk in to find ants invaded our room. Hundreds!!! My husband talked to security who said he could not help and we would have to wait for tomorrow at noon. He did try to kill them but they came back angry and with a vengeance in minutes. At this point of our trip was 14 days across the country and not bugs...this was our 5th hotel on the trip. Not wanting to have ants crawl all over us and bite us more...we left and returned in the morning to speak with a manager. She told us they were army ants then retracted to say they were leaf cutter ants. She said they come in two times a year and it was unfortunate that it was during our stay but she refused to refund the money. Multiple times she contradicted her statements and lied about how the ants got int he room. We know how....we watched them. The construction that was going on in the room next door disrupted a nest and the ants were upset. Today they are refusing my refund. They have no integrity. The photos provided are after the security guard attempted to kill some

Liked: Staff & service
Don't be deceived by the pictures the place could use alot of TLC. Good access to the beach. Would like to have gotten more bang for my buck. Tamarindo is very busy and expensive.
Staff and management were very welcoming...beautiful location a short walk to the noise...amazing beachfront restaurant next door...love this place and cant wait for my next holiday...thankyou!
