Hotels near Tacloban City Hall

"As an American that had never seen real life cockroaches before, maybe I’m overly sensitive. Maybe it’s a common thing in the Philippines or in tacloban in particular? But we had to call staff for cockroaches in our room multiple times. And I’m a bit squeamish, so I didn’t sleep well at all. We booked the “fabulous” rooms. They have a queen bed upstairs and two twins downstairs. We also had a delayed check in. Several hours, because of some electrical issue? And I’m pretty sure I heard a rodent of some kind moving around in the rooms ceiling right over the bed. My wife laughed at me because she’s a tough cookie. Without the pests it would be quite a nice place. But I’ll never go back, thanks."

"Staff was very … well, rude. The front desk at least. Room service was laughable, no knife with pork chops, had to request our drinks 3 times ( for water ). Food was so poorly prepared. Just bad. Fish was soggy and old tasting. Pork chops were the driest meat I have ever been served. Judging by the Luke warm temp, I would guess they were in a chafing dish precooked Just Terrible. Most extensive check in process including an eight part waiver of liability. It was prepaid through Expedia an we got in late. I could go on but why bother. They will not care. "

"The Summit Hotel was much livelier, and to be fair, we were only there for one night to visit family nearby. The location is very convenient — right across from the mall — and I wish we had more time to explore the mall and the restaurants. The room was a disappointment, but to be fair, I don’t have anything to compare it to as an American tourist. I tried to take a shower, but the water was very cold. I think you need to be patient and let it warm up. There was almost no water pressure — just a trickle — and there was only one towel, but again, keeping in mind we’re in a different country. There were plenty of staff on hand, and when I needed a shuttle to the airport, the front desk was very helpful and arranged it for me. They were professional and made the process easy."

"2 huge cockroaches in our condo! Dusty! Their ad stated kitchenette but what kitchenette?! Not one solitary spoon! All this kitchenette had was a sink! no microwave, not even a kettle to boil water!! Their staff person entered my condo without permission, not even a knock!!! Good thing I wasn't naked coming out of the bathroom!!! Will NOT RECOMMEND this ZPad Residence to my enemy!!!"

"Clean, comfortable, friendly and homey. Nice breakfast and restaurant as well as coffee shop. Beautiful garden is an oasis in the middle of the city. We stay here every time we visit, about once a year."
