We had a wonderful stay – everything was just lovely! The room was spotless and comfortable, the breakfast was top class. We really enjoyed the pool and bar too. Great atmosphere all around – would happily come back!

The staff were amazing, the pool and beach area are beautiful and the air con in the building was crispy! Quick water taxi to Stari Grad from the beach area was 2 euro and worth it. This is a great spot for a relaxing and convenient stay

Good location, a short walk from Stari Grad. Good breakfast options and the room was quite nice. Music round the pool was questionable. Decent value for money overall.

The good.... The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The decor and ambience of the hotel was wonderful. The cleanliness was just perfect. The bathrooms had great water pressure and nice toiletries The bad..... Extra charge for sun loungers on the beach Extra charge to switch beach towels Menu and food was not to our taste, heavily into fish and meat or fake meat. Could improve by adding vegetable based dishes. The room was quite noisy for sleep, we were closest to the entrance.

Great place . Clean , lovely staff and made very welcome. Great to have water on tap all the time . Food ok , although menus limiting so ate out most nights . Lovely water taxi into village . Swimming at in the sea was a bit rustic - more needs to be made to tidy up that area ! Unfortunately a few families came from next door hotel and the kids took over the pool with lilos etc and staff did not remove them or notice they were not guests ! Overall great stay.

I travelled with my husband and we stayed for 3 nights. It was a great short trip! The resort is beautiful and clean. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. The bathrooms were okay, they did not match the vibe of the rest of the hotel, but everything still worked. We had an issue with our balcony door and it was promptly fixed. There is wifi all over the resort including the lobby and the pool area. The buffet breakfast was my favourite part of the trip, the selection had everything you can imagine. The rest of the food was quite delicious too, including pizza, pasta and seafood. The staff were nice enough, but I found that when I spoke Croatian they changed their attitude and were more friendly towards me (I speak English with my husband). Overall I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity came up!

This property was designed with the guest experience in mind. The resort was full of game, nooks, hammocks, bars, and free pool beds that didn’t have to be reserved. We stayed in a Valamar property in Dubrovnik afterwards based on our good experience

Perfect late summer break away

Pleasant stay with everything you need and more for an island break away. Hotel has loads of activities which we didnt even get to as we were exploring all the other things on the island and neighbouring islands

Best hotel in Hvar Island

Great place to stay and will surely come back. Stari Grad is very cosy as a town and great bars and restaurants there. The hotel restaurant and the fact they have a live DJ every day at the pool area makes you want to stay at the Places hotel all the time and don’t have to walk to town. Amazing breakfast as well! Don’t go to Hvar and stay somewhere else. Worth every penny!

Really fantastic stay, great location! The flexi half board was brilliant and plenty of choice. I would have given 5 stars however they have a no pool bed reservation policy, however by 08:30 all of the beds have been reserved and also not in use for many hours with no effort to uphold this policy at all so unless your down before 8am there’s no chance of a bed by the pool.

Our stay at the Place Hotel was very nice. Great room (actually small, but it hardly bothered us) and a great pool area. We find the flexible half-board option really great, but unfortunately, there was very little choice for vegetarians. We would particularly like to highlight the massage by Dragana. We haven't been massaged so well and, above all, in such a relaxed and courteous atmosphere for a long time. Thank you very much for that!

After the crowds of Split, Places was the perfect resort for our group of 8. The property is thoughtfully curated for young people and young at heart. Great technology is used throughout the experience. We saw a lot of firsts at this resort. Also, the included breakfast was a hit. It was fantastic. The rooms are small but efficiently designed. We could not think of a more magical place to stay in Hvar. Stari Grad was so much better than staying in the extremely busy Hvar Town.

A wonderful summer vacation in a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is located in a beautiful pine park in the bay near Stari Grad, Hvar. Everything is very unique about the guesthouse, but the friendly worker at reception explained everything to us upon arrival. We all received a bracelet to pay for food and drinks and to open the room. The balance can always be checked on the app on the phone. The place is really wonderful with two swimming pools and close to the sea. The staff is very friendly from Stefan, who always find time to talk to each guest individually. Charge of the kitchen surprises me with his knowledge of gluten-free food, for which I regularly receive advice. All of the staff are cheerful and smiling but with wonderful smile during meals refreshes the whole day. The music by the pool is fantastic, with different DJs, and we must praise the girl with the violin who perfectly fits into the sound of mixed good old and new hits. Guests have free sunbeds in the park and next to the swimming pool, which completes the wonderful and high-quality offer. If you want the atmosphere of a small town on the coast, you can walk along the sea to the center of Stari Grad with its restaurants and cafes.

Not quite how it was marketed

This hotel did not live up to the marketing campaign. This is a party place, for example we used the noisy air con system to drown out the music outside at 11pm. At £200 + per night it is very expensive and not a place for relaxing. The beds are uncomfortable and rooms look like a slightly upgraded premier inn. The bathroom did not have a refurb and brown paint slapped on the tiles. If you’re a young couple and looking for a party scene it would be a great place to go however if you’re looking for some tranquil and chill, it is not. The food was expensive so your 25 euro allowance disappears instantly. Although, having said this, the food was good quality and the breakfast selection was epic. Strari grad is a beautiful village but the Americanised hotel does not match with the beautiful character of the village it is and the respect it deserves. The hotel location means it is only a nice scenic 10 minutes walk.

Not sure we would return.

Not sure if we would return. Positives are breakfast was good and varied, location is good if you want somewhere beautiful and quieter but then the hotel counteracts that with playing awful loud music. Paid extra for sea view to only see trees. Rooms are tiny and bathrooms have not been updated in the refurb, just tiles painted. The food was pretty awful for lunch/dinner and they had run out of most things on our last night due to a delivery/order mix up. Service was also hit and miss. Our shower didn’t drain and they did sort it promptly, however on the day we arrived they were very unhelpful with providing support with getting from Stari Grad ferry port - the shuttle bus was booked in for service so tough luck we were on our own. They should have provided discounted taxis for guests if the shuttle (advertised on their website) was out of service.

The music by the pool is fantastic, with different DJs, and we must praise the girl with the violin who perfectly fits into the sound of mixed good old and new hits. Guests have free sunbeds in the park and next to the swimming pool, which completes the wonderful and high-quality offer.
