Great staff, good food, iconic hotel. Loved it and Nick making drinks in the bar 👍😀
Walking distance to all the shopping of Charolette Amalie. The most welcoming staff. Very clean rooms, the pool being open 24/7 is an awesome touch. I would recommend this stay to anyone! Especially couples. I wouldn’t say it’s fit for families or elderly-or those with a hard time climbing stairs. A few Minutes drive to the airport and Brewers Beach. YOU WONT REGRET your stay
Very unique property in an ancient building. The rook was very good and clean with comfortable bed. Ac worked great. Great location in town and close to airport. Not on the beach, but we’re spending the next week on the water
In the heart of Charlotte Amalie, Hotel 1829 stands out for its character, charm, and amazing hospitality. The staff were excellent, the dinner was unparalleled, and the rooms unique and grand. We will definitely be back!

Room was spacious and clean. Not bad for a building built in 1829. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829!

Air conditioning kept the room cool
Our room was clean and comfortable.
And we had a great meal at the restaurant on site.
They did not offer any items that you may need for sale water as such.
We would stay again. Hotels pretty neat being so old. Staff was exceptional
What a wonderful hotel. We were pleasantly greeted on arrival by the owners. The hotel is full of character and is undergoing renovations. The location is great with wonderful views of the ocean. Sunday brunch was excellent.

We really enjoyed staying at our his historic and recently renovated hotel. Rooms have lots of exposed brick and historic charm mixed with modern showers. Our room had a beautiful double door with shutters going out to a shared balcony that has a beautiful view of the bay in Charlotte Amalie. Easy walking distance to the bay and to numerous restaurants, bars, and shops in the area. Had a chance to talk to owner Jessica who took time to answer questions about the property and St Thomas. Renovations are ongoing on the backside of the hotel but did not hear them or disrupt our stay. Will book again when we circle back through the area later in the month. Thanks again!
Amazing History | Beautiful Rooms | Delicious Food | Incredibly Personable Staff
We absolutely loved this location and would highly recommend staying here—especially when no cruise ships are in port. Shopping and restaurants are just blocks away, along with the (in)famous 99 Steps and Blackbeard's right next door. The views from both the bar and our room were truly breathtaking. While the property still has restoration work ahead, the quality of what has already been completed is outstanding. If they continue on this path, this will undoubtedly become THE hotel to stay at on the island!
It’s a stunning, unique hotel. One great way to keep the wrong people from visiting? Tell them that there are no televisions in the rooms! From my perspective, that’s a big plus! And it signals that this hotel, combines luxury, history, and is aimed at the type of traveler who did not come to watch TV..
The air conditioner wasn’t optimal - it was programmed and couldn’t be set lower. Presumably an effort on management’s part to keep costs low, but then you lose customer comfort! I didn’t have a balcony although I paid for one on Expedia and also, there was a ridiculous amount of stairs and no staff to help with bags. Oh and the bed was not comfortable! I honestly have no idea how this place got “exceptional” rating! I’m a pretty easy-going person so if I say it’s adequate and mediocre at best, rest assured that that is an accurate description. The only positive was the shower and historical preservation of some of the foundation like walls. My advice? Spend a little more and go to a nicer place or better yet - go to a more affordable part of the island, where you’ll get much more value for your $!

Great location, nice hotel we had a great room with a view.
The bad part, no help with luggage. A lot of steep stairs and uneven surfaces.
Unless you’re in good physical shape, it’s a struggle.
