"Hotel not open when we arrived. Apparently, bar doesn't open til 5pm. Evening meal was excellent, but a bit rushed cos they were very busy. We hadn't booked a table in advance. Didn't expect it to be busy mid week. Live music, but didn't go on too late. Breakfast was somewhat limited, but what we'd ordered was lovingly cooked. No complaints at all"

"I stayed here overnight for a friend's wedding. The hotel is in a great quiet location with great views. The staff were extremely lovely and helpful. The bed was comfortable and warm and the breakfast was very nice. The rooms are spacious but are a little dated and signs of wear and tear noted. The rooms had great amenities.. but could benefit with having a pen and paper in the room for completeness."

"The Golden Lion is ideally situated on the High Street with its own carpark at the rear with each space designated by the room name you're staying in. The staff, rooms and breakfast are excellent and the bar has a great choice of real ales. Other pubs and restaurants are nearby as are shops which are a mix of high street names and individual ones"

"The room was lovely, it was spacious and very clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely and lots to choose from and all cooked to order, we also ate there in the evenings and again the food was brilliant., there was plenty of choice. They have a big car park at the rear of the property so parking was not a problem. We would definitely stay there again"
