"A little more affordable, especially for locals like myself."

"Ian was great checking us in , our room was unfortunately hot , the walls are paper thin and the beds are sloped from people sitting on the sides of them . Once people stopped walking around in there rooms (yes you can hear them walking in the rooms next door so if their talking u can hear every detail ) . Breakfast was very nice and included . We would not stay there again due to the heat and the noise and uncomfortable beds ."

"Hotel is a part of the historic Fort. The room was a good size but the bathroom a little tight. The website photos may lead you to believe there is a bar and restaurant, but it's no longer in use. But it's just a 10 minute walk to the town with a number of bars and restaurants."

"Quirky place with very nice staff and it was exceptionally clean. Seemed expensive for the quality and layout of the room and no breakfast included but I guess that happens in a cruise town. Configuration of my room ( twin single) was awkward due to the small space. Bedside tables were out of reach and difficult to watch tv from one of the beds."

"Owner very helpful and knowledgeable about local sites and places to see offered to take us anywhere and call her. She pick us up one of a kind."

"Were there some hiccups during this stay, yes, but the staff responded quickly to fix them. Was there for a quick over night stay and my first time staying here in a year or two. A nice stay overall"

"Restaurants were excellent"

"Loud generator kicking in and out every 5 seconds outside in p/l. Obviously, an issue not being dealt with, and hard to sleep. Mentioned to staff in morning and received an apologetic reply, nothing written down, so I made clear it is obviously a long standing issue that is being neglected. And received a tepid response to that comment. Not the worst hotel in our trip but very very close to the bottom."

"Room was excellent. It seemed new or nearly new. Bathroom was very clean. It has a kitchen, which was also very clean. Loved the comfortable mattress, but I like fluffy, pillow top soft mattresses. For a remote place in Alaska, this hotel is probably the cleanest and best I have personally experienced at this price point. Airport shuttle provides free ride. Two-three blocks to tour busses at Harrigan Centennial Hall. Hotel has no restaurant. Highlander coffee shop is updated, clean and modern...

"We were really happy with Captain's Choice, especially after a long day of biking. Great views over the water from the shared patio/deck. Clean rooms. Carpeted hotel floors have grossed me out before but the ones here were clean and well taken care of. Parking in the back lot was a little tight but we found spots for both cars. If I need a room in Haines again this will be my first choice."

"We enjoyed our stay here . The staff was very friendly and helpful, even hurrying to bring my phone charger out to me as we waited for a shuttle to the airport. Breakfast was good and the room, while a little small, was comfortable and decently equipped. It’s a bed and breakfast so don’t expect a fancy modern hotel."

"Great stay, right by the ferry terminal. Staff were very helpful. Drivers were great and helpful with pick up and drop offs. Restaurants were great, staff were wonderful with my 6 year old and his desires for plain food, they made fish especially for him with “none of the extras”, plus a side of ketchup."

"The main issue we had as there is no sign on the building! There is no way to identify you have arrived at the location. You have to get the room key from a store near the building ( we had to ask people in the street and eventually another store owner took us to the right store to get the key) very unprofessional and frustrating. "

"TV's didn't work. changed batteries twice and remote once. thermostat in room all taped up. Staff at front desk was very helpful. brought a blanket and tried to fix remote. fixed the heater. very thin beadspread and no blanket. lots of drug deals going on outside the main lobby. i did not feel secure there."
