"The property and area were beautiful and quaint. The rooom/bathroom could have been a little cleaner and the bed and pillows were on the flat, hard side. However, we enjoyed our stay and would happily have stayed another night."

"The room we were given was room 14 and although it was large it was at the top of the building, this involved several flights of stairs. We stayed during a hot weekend and there was very little ventilation from the small window over looking the roof. The room was relatively clean although there were some cobwebs inside the light fixtures. All the staff were superb, especially the evening staff in the restaurant. The spa area is very nice and well worth a visit. The most amazing thing about this place is the food, whilst not cheap, it is exceptional. The choice is phenomenal, the quality and flavours are superb. Good, wholesome food, presented perfectly! Well done, all concerned!"

High Force Hotel

"Our welcome to high force was great and staff were amazing. We came back to the hotel after a walk to low force, just after the service for food had ended, but it was no trouble to staff to offer to make a bowl of chips for us as the fryers were still on. We did find the bed slightly uncomfortable and under bed may need to be cleaned but other than that it was great. To have high force tickets and raby castle tickets included was also an added bonus. The breakfast in the morning was lovely with plenty of choice. We did find a swarm of wasps out the front of the property when we were eating breakfast and heard other guests mentioning the same. We would love to come back to the property and would recommend as such a lovely special place to stay. Thank you."

"From check in to check out the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. In fact, from when you pull into the car park you get the feeling it’s a special place. The building is a beautifully well maintained old building with some rather stunning modern extras. The room we had was spacious and beautifully presented, with a very comfy bed! Spacious bathroom with walk in shower. The bar area, lounge areas, breakfast and dinner room were clean, tidy, and again had that old style feel but with modern features. But the garden was amazingly well kept and that view!! All worth it just for that!! The food was stunning too both breakfast and dinner were perfectly cooked and presented. But by far the shining star of this hotel is the staff and service you receive, faultless."

"This hotel gets 4star because of the creaking noise from wooden floor as someone walks. It probably reflects the century old construction! But otherwise it’s been a pleasant stay. Be prepared to expect a very very .. remote building out of nowhere! The nearest habitable building is few miles away which is the Shap town!"
