Great to visit of lunch, but wouldn’t stay again
The overall experience was good. Good is great and staff are lovely. However, the condition of the rooms was less than satisfactory. One of the booked rooms for our group had ripped, stained towels on offer for the bathroom… Another issue was with the shower in the couples room not having a way to only turn one shower head on, it just runs both at low pressure. The bathroom sink hot taps are almost unusable, being close to boiling. I very rarely leave poor reviews as I’m aware of their impact. But in all fairness and honesty, the Red Lion was actually the worst part of our weekend trip. The location was very close to our main event which was great, and once again, staff were lovely and food was decent quality, but I wouldn’t rebook the place.

Not the best.
We booked 1night stay on a Sunday, and booked dinner for 7.30, we enjoyed a drink in the afternoon in the garden, then found out the pub shuts from 4-6, would have been nice to have been told before trying to get another drink. We came down to the restaurant at about 6.30 to be told they had already run out of beef, also to order now before they run out anything else and ended up eating before 7.00, not the best experience although the room was spacious and comfortable.

Stayed here for a weekend break and absolutely loved it. The room was extremely clean and homely. Would definitely recommend this hotel / pub and would definitely stay here again. The freshly made pizzas stole the show!

Beautiful location, quaint country pub and hotel. Pet friendly. We had a lovely room but very disappointed to find our shower was faulty. Couldn’t fault the food, we had a lovely dinner and breakfast and all the staff were lovely.

Hidden gem
What a place! Set in a charming village, the accommodation was simple yet incredibly stylish. The food offering is superb and service excellent. Will definitely stay here again.

A lovely unassuming country pub. We stayed here while at Glastonbury festival and it was a dream to come back to with our 7 month old for a bit of respite. Great breakfast too.

Lonely stay, a couple of improvements possible.
A lovely countryside pub with generally excellent food, although it was noticeable that the main chef wasn’t working for breakfast on one day. Quality of the room and property was excellent. A little better attention to detail in servicing rooms wouldn’t go amiss to maintain the high standards elsewhere.

Arrived late due to flight cancellation. At 1.30am there was someone waiting to make sure we got to our rooms. Very nice rooms and lovely people. Fantastic breakfast in the morning.

Here for a short stay for a wake. A sad time, but we were looked after by all the staff who were so welcoming. Fabulous food, burgers are great and bangers & mash, I want the gravy recipe! Very quiet, very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed my break away from the madding crowd.

Great venue. The bar was having some work done to it but the owner was very accommodating and the staff all very friendly. Lovely room and generally a nice place to stay. I intend to go back.

The room was dingy, un-clean and rather shabby. there was cobwebs, it hadn't been cleaned properly. the interaction with the 2 members of the team was positive, they were welcoming but that couldn't make up for the awful room I stayed.

Excellent Inn
A proper, quintessential English Inn in a nice village. A great place to stop on the way to/from the West Country. Very dog friendly. We had a lovely room with a good, large shower, comfy beds and plenty of space. Very good staff - sorted out a slight problem re my steak with courtesy and efficiency. My wife's chicken was superb. Excellent breakfast. We were there on the so-called "day of freedom" so the restaurant was full and they were a little short staffed because of Covid but they coped admirably and I suspect the Red Lion would be near faultless in normal circumstances. I would recommend without hesitation.

Great pub/restaurant with lovely rooms.
Beautifully set in the Somerset countryside this super smart well laid out traditional pub with great rooms is lovely. Food is excellent and the breakfast great. The place is as nice as it looks with a nice feel.

Recommend for over night stay
Very nice pub/restaurant in pretty village. Comfortable rooms in what appears to be a newly converted barn which is part of the pub site. There is some traffic noise (surprisingly) from about 6am so it’s worth asking for a room as far away from main road as possible. The fish was very good!
