"We had a double lake view room with a fantastic view. The room is spacious and spotless clean. We even had a radiator in our room which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast is delicious. They provide two vegetarian options but also the other options can be prepared without meat. At check-in we received a welcome drink and were greeted super friendly. Also English was not a problem but knowing some Chinese is always helpful;) "

"The location can be difficult to find. DO NOT rely solely on Google Maps, as it will give you an unrelated place some distance away from the actual location. Upon reserving a room, the proprietor reached out to provide his Line contact, as well as geo coordinates that you can then plug into Google Maps. The condition of the room was good, relative to the location it's in. The location is quite rural and tucked in nature, so there are lots of critters as a result. However, that didn't take away...

"A beautiful air B&N but very hard to get to. Tour buses are not allowed to park near the community. It's a long uphill walk (with stairs) from the parking lot to the facility. "

It’s quite cold up in the mountain and foggy. Disappointed that star-gazing session has been cancelled due to cloudy sky. Breakfast spread is just nice to kick start your day. "In any other place, I would have given this 4 stars. However, given the shortage of reasonably-priced, top-notch hotels around the lake, my 5-star rating reflects what was available for Taiwan. The room was very nice, and the hotel was close to the bus station and to the start of the trails around the lake. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and made our entire stay around Sun Moon Lake a great experience. Any issues we experienced, such as a slow elevator, narrow stairs, too few electrical outlets, etc., were very minor, and are to be expected throughout Taiwan. One thing remember: Take your key when you go out. Without it, you won't be able to get back into the hotel after 9:00 as the staff are off. Ask the staff about the local restaurant serving local mountain vegetable-based dishes. You won't regret it. "
