Manager not very helpful. Room ok but shower room grubby. Breakfast room hot and stank fried food, try opening a window. Looked like some bedrooms open up directly into the breakfast room...? Not food hygienic and kitchen looked dirty. My scrambled egg was served on a greasy dirty plate. Croissants nearly out date on wrapper. All very cheap looking.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. I tried to be as helpful as I could. You had trouble getting up the stairs and I offered to take your bags to your room but you declined. We have a food hygiene rating of 5 out of 5 and pride ourselves on our cleanliness as per the majority of reviews.

Very welcoming & friendly staff.It was well priced & convenient for Wexham Hospital if you have your own transport. The breakfast was very good. The only faults were the sink plug wasn't working which meant runninng the water continuous to wash -also the shower mixer didn't seem to have any cold water running through making a shower far too hot to use..Nick Grant

One night stay for visit to Legoland. Lovely owner, room was great and so was breakfast. Parking very handy and free. All in all, great place to stay and will use again.

Basic hotel as expected but night porter who let me in was very helpful and professional. Good secure parking ~ welll lit but tight spaces to get into. Room was very basic, marks on wall by bed, no bath mat, furnishings tired, generally felt a bit run down. Room was right on the road with lots of traffic noise and people shouting outside (I would not go out at night here). Breakfast was across the road - breakfast room smelt of cooking and smoke which got into my clothes, but the cooked breakfast was lovely and served very quickly, really enjoyed.

I would avoid booking this place again
I have stayed in over 200 hotels in the past 4 years and this is one of the worst. The temperature was in the minus degrees and I had to call requesting they put the heating on. The manager declined this at first, suggesting it would come on shortly, on a timer. An hour and a half later I will still breathing out steam! I would not book this place again, guest safety should be paramount. I now have a cold feel incredibly ill. Also, all of the water stains in the ceiling tiles are disgusting.

Thank you for your review. You had called to put heating on and not once did I refuse. I mentioned the heating was coming on in 5/10 minutes and it did. As I double checked the times. We apologise if the stay wasn’t to your satisfaction. The issues raised will be raised with the relevant departments.

Value for money
AJ Lodge Going to start with some constructive criticism. Some fittings in the room were broken, but would have only needed 5 minutes of time to rectify, so really this should be done. The breakfast, looking at the ladies preparing it I expected better, was obviously pre cooked and dried out a little, was served very quickly and was perfectly edible just expected a bit better. The shower was just rubbish if I am honest, did the job but went freezing cold half way through. Saying all of the above it doesn’t mean the place was bad, actually the overall experience was good, has excellent public transport links with the bus stop right on the doorstep. The room was clean and warm And to be honest it was excellent value for money. All the staff were very polite. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again

I use this guesthouse whenever I am in the area overnight. It is perfectly acceptable. It's not the Ritz but the rooms are warm and clean, the bed is comfy, the TV works and you get a free cooked breakfast. All in all, absolutely no complaints.

Enjoyable 1 night business stay
The room I had was small but was very clean, had private bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities There was a very nice freshly cooked made to order breakfast that was included in the price There are a lot of fast food outlets within a short walk but the nearest restaurant and pub was a short drive away Very competitive price and good accommodation

I was baffled by the designer shower controls but hot water showed up eventually, after I put all controls in their middle positions. Otherwise, this was an excellent stay.

Very good value
Very good value B&B. Clean and tidy, tasty freshly cooked breakfast. I had am single ensuite but checked out the shared bathrooms, which looked clean and tidy. Will be back if I'm in the area. I was in a high top long wheelbase transit, and the access road was tight to the parking but I took my time and got in and out without issue.

Manager Jay ( on phone) and front of house staff ( in person) were friendly, efficient, professional and most helpful, Despite not intentionally looking to see, my late booked room was dirty (edges of floor coverings, ledges, skirtings, shower etc) I was quickly moved on speaking to Jay to a cleaner room although edges of floor coverings still dirty, net curtains and skirtings were dirty, dusty all of which Jay assured me he has taken up with cleaning staff. My menu stand base on my table was filthy, greasy, dusty, dirty with hair on it which made me feel quite queasy and I sent filmed footage to Jay. Cleanliness, hygiene ( rusted, dirty toilet brush set, dirt in showers, mould spots, dirty net in 2nd bathroom etc) let bathrooms down. I didn’t feel I wanted to use showers and didn’t. I really hope the cleaning staff rectify these so rooms live up to the customer service given. SM July 2023.

AJ lodge is a commercial style bed and breakfast. There is plenty of parking on site (although it’s a bit narrow for larger vehicles). The staff and very helpful and friendly. Rooms and facilities are very clean and the breakfast was good. The main downside is the curtains didn’t block out the light and the walls/doors are fairly thin so you will hear noise once other guests are up around 6am. Transport wise there is a bus to the station but it only runs every 30-40 minutes at the weekend. There are some restaurants and shops in walking distance although the area is fairly down market.

We had a room over the street, so with the windows open, traffic noise was a little bothersome. The shower was tiny, but the everything was clean.
