A Good Place to Stay if You’re Visiting Fudan U
The service was generally pretty good. Most staff spoke some some level of English and they definitely made an effort to be helpful. I was in Shanghai for a few days to visit my son who was doing a semester abroad at Fudan University. You will not find a more convenient place to stay if you happen to have business at the university. You are also within reasonable walking distance of the Shanghai metro (maybe 10 or 15 minutes walking). The rooms are clean and pretty well appointed. For the price, I think the hotel is a very good value/

Staffers are extremely helpful and responsive. Room was tidy and clean. Improvements: No shaver, no toothbrush in the room - although delivery was quick. However, staff did not state if they are free.

According to the "Regulation to Minimize and Reduce the Use of Disposable Items in the Tourism and Accommodation Industries" implemented on 1st July 2019 in Shanghai, hotel are not able to provide the following disposable amenities in the guest rooms: toothbrush, comb, razor, nail file, loofah and shoe mitt. A decent choice in the university area
The hotel is located among a few universities and makes sense for any stay that might associate with such businesses. Reception was a breeze and overall stay was pleasant, except maybe the breakfast selection can be even more fancier.

I stayed here twice in one week in the second stay was exceptional. they will come to me and upgraded me to a larger room. The hotel is very clean and the staff is kind.

Great hotel - Great Bar!
We loved our five days in a Shanghai and loved this hotel. The front desk was great at checkin and offered us a very quite room on the south side of the building. Our room with a king size bed was spacious and well maintained. The bathroom was especially good with a wonderful corner shower a separate tub and great towels. Our only challenge was that the AC was not yet on for the season when we checked in. Upon request the front desk provided a fan and the problem was solved. The last two nights of our stay the AC was on and worked well. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant in the hotel is great. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet twice, the dinner menu one night and the dinner buffet one night. The closest restaurants are a 15 - 20 minute walk from the hotel so the restaurant is important. Service was great and prices were very reasonable. The food was great! Best of all was the bar on the second floor. Young bartender, Jason, was eager to serve us and had great fun practicing his English with us. He made our visits to the bar great fun and very relaxing. We were a group of six on a great China adventure and this hotel made our stay in Shanghai especially memorable. When we return to Shanghai we would be very happy to return to this hotel!

Upscale, great facilities, adjacent to Fudan U
This hotel is ideally located adjacent to Fudan main campus, we stayed for a week while visiting our daughter studying there. Is an upscale convention type hotel. Pleasant staff, helpful concierge, taxis always available, 2 min to campus and about 10--15 min walk to nearest metro. Cabs are really cheap in Shanghai. Room big, very clean. Tap water not drinkable but water bottles provided. Huge breakfast buffet at the restaurant. Only real complaint was that the room was quite stuffy at night and the climate control didn't appear to control anything. Enjoyed our stay

Not a 5 Star Hotel
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. I requested nonsmoking room, still our room smelled musty. After switching to a different room, it still smelled unpleasant and unfresh. Air condition is weak during summer time. Hotel does not go out of its way to make customers happy, rather very bureaucratic. When I needed some coffee creamer (not the powder kind ), the receptionist refused. I even went to the breakfast area to get some, and was told to purchase the milk since I don't have breakfast voucher, give me a break! There is one Tennis Court at the Hotel. No one seems using it, however when I want to use it, I was told it required 24 hour advanced notice. After some negotiating, we finally get to use the court, but to our dismay, the Court is of poor quality, the paint wears off immediately. Soon the tennis ball wears the same color as the court. Hotel definitely doesn't deserve a 5 Star status, the room rates are overpriced. I will not stay in this Hotel again.

Nice hotel close to Fudan University
Very good overall experience. Staff was friendly and most of them with acceptable English. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. many different options. The only problem we had was with not bring able to control the room temperature. Room was hot at night. Hotel opened our windows to refresh our room but noise was an issue due to proximity to the highway.

S ex Massage?
There was a massage service brochure on the desk in my room. So, I called the number and ask to make a reservation for massage. It was weird that they will send a massager to my room. In normal hotels, there are some separate rooms for massage in SPA. Anyway, few minutes later a massager came. It was normal massage in the beginning, but it gets weirder and weirder. I refused more massage, then she said "No s ex massage?" I was shocked that such a big hotel provides decadent service. Moreover, it is located in Fudan University where many scholars and professions visit.

I was in the Fudan area for a conference and this hotel was convenient and very very nice--esp for the price. Everyone was helpful. I will stay there again.

The hotel location was convenient as I was attending a conference at Fudan. They have a decent breakfast and lunch buffet. The hotel is a bit dated but the rooms are very spacious and well kept. Good hotel if you have business in or near Fudan but not if you wish to travel to downtown.

Enjoyed the beds, the room service, the bathing facilities, and the views. Only the meal at the mezzanine cafe was somewhat disappointing, but at the end did not detract from our overall experience.

High value, close to subway, great staff
The facility was fantastic and the location a great mix of close enough to the tourist areas so that they were easily accessible but also in a more relaxed area with local access to shopping and dining. Can't recommend highly enough will certainly use again.

Despite hotel car pick-up no room available on check-in. Eventual room was spacious but could only get Internet via cable - although public WiFi was avaliable in the foyer etc. Hungry, went to Cafe Mix for lunch but told it was too busy for a la carte and was asked to go Mezzanine Restaurant - tried Hainanese chicken, lacked flavour and "salad" was desiccated. Never saw He Yuan restaurant open during stay but food from Chinese menu was much better than Western menu and buffet (was told by member of staff to avoid, with good reason). Mezzanine Bar was very quiet - saw no-one try the Spanish tapas (surprise surprise) and there was no nightly jazz and blues. Gym was ok if a little cramped. Note that there is no taxi rank as such - if you need a taxi the concierge staff will reluctantly flag one down, my Chinese friend was told that they don't usually call for taxis - so be prepared to wait when it rains. Location is good for Fudan University but no local restaurants or bars of note. I have stayed at other Crowne Plaza hotels in Shanghai, all delivered against their website promises - unfortunately this one didn't.

Univercity hotel at down town Shanghai price
One would really think, that the down town Shanghai luxus hotels would be more expencive than this hotel. But that was not the case - and here you even had to pay a high price for internet - that was really pushing it a bit too much. But! are you attending the univercity of Fudan - this is a great location and the hotel is for sure also really good. Service, however, is a word they have not heard about... that does on the other hand leave an area totally open for improvements - and it should be possible to improve here :-)
