We checked initally with no problems. Hotel was very quiet, but we didn't see any other guests. We had just arrived via fast boat from padang bai, and wanted to cool off and take a nap. We quickly realized that the aircon did not blow cool air. Upon inquiry we learned that they ran off a generator during the day and the generator couldn't handle the load of the aircon. Unfortunate, but at least we had moving air. Then the generator died. We laid in the sweltering heat for about an hour, while the generator clicked the lights on and off repeatedly, hoping they would get it back uo and running. To no avail. It sounded like it had actually died. We could not stand the heat. The hotel was not in range of any restaurants or convenience stores and we had little faith in the hotel restaurant that could not keep the aircon going. They listed that they had aircon, a minibar and wifi. Without power we had neither aircon nor wifi, and the minibar consisted of a small tray of peanut snacks. We asked the front desk to call a taxi and went in search of a new hotel. In their defence they stated in the check in agreement that blackouts were common, but we figured it meant short outages. We were wrong, and without a working generator it was a no-go. The room was clean, though.
