This beautiful property was tucked away in the hills of Iceland. The drive out was breathtaking, and once we got to the property, felt very welcomed. This property was clean and quaint, with its own quirky touch. The room was clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable! The breakfast that is included was homemade and had quite the spread of different options! We got the buffet dinner for an extra charge, and it was worth it! The chef really did a great job with everything she prepared. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location for our planned itinerary. The warm and vibe of the place really set the tone for our trip to Iceland. We stayed three nights and ate at the hotel twice. Compared to the other local offering the food was excellent value for money. The hot dish of soup after a cold day on the mountains was just heaven washed down with glasses of draft Gull. Because of the remote location Bru was perfect to see the Nothern Lights from lower down the drive. The bed was extremely comfortable and the free breakfast Continental buffet was plentiful to pack you up for a busy day out. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well for three nights we were there. We are hoping that this is not an only chance to at Bru. Wonderful find.

Charming and Cozy
We stayed one night here. Very charming and cozy in the main building. We had dinner and it was the most amazing home cooked meal. Definitely the best food we had while in Iceland. Great location to explore from and wish we could have spent more time there.

The view is spectacular, the staff is non existent, no one at the desk ever. The dinner and breakfast were odd. Decor was very eclectic, the Icelandic sheep dogs Notta and Crema were the highlight. The owner has a nice idea, but get involved, meet the guests if you serve homestyle meals, and please put out Caution Signs for the Ice, parking lot was a sheet of ice. Missed our snowmobile tour due to massive spill in the ice. Yikes!

This place is so unique and cozy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt like we were in our own home. I would highly recommend staying with them if you're close by.

Staff was friendly and attentive, lounge was inviting and comfortable, breakfast was varied and delicious. Room was comfortable. We were closest to the lounge (room 1) and we did hear some of the music (on a Saturday night, after an event) until nearly 11, but it was super quiet from that point on, and we had no problem getting to sleep. Would stay here again!

Spent a couple nights here. Rooms were simple, private and included everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was great to kicking of our day. Location was perfect for experiencing the Golden Circle. And although we did not see any, this seemed like a fantastic place to catch the northern lights. Away from any downtown area, the sky was clear and stars were bright.

I just checked out of Bru Country Estate and I’m sad to be leaving after just one night. This place is wonderful. The property is tucked away on a nice piece of land with beautiful views. When I approached the building to check in, I was greeted by three friendly and adorable dogs— just what I needed to bring a smile to my face after a day of driving. Upon entering the main house, I immediately felt at home. Ro checked me in and was very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance in here is so warm and cozy. The decor is eclectic, the candlelight soothing, the temperature warm (lovely coming in from the Icelandic wind), and the music relaxing. I enjoyed reading and journaling in the main common spaces with a glass of wine, occasionally tossing a toy duck for one of these cute dogs. I also took advantage of the homemade dinner buffet, which was the best meal I’d had in a long time—absolutely delicious. The mushroom soup and cod casserole were my favorites— credits to the chef! My cabin for the evening was a basic one and a bit chilly for my tastes (to be fair, I get cold easily so it was probably fine for normal people). I slept so great, though, that I slept straight through breakfast! I was still able to get coffee though, and that’s the most important part:) Staying here has been my favorite part of my trip and I’ll be staying here again if I return to Iceland. This property is set back off the main road a bit but the scenery is breathtaking. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The food was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay very much.

I was looking forward to our stay at the Bru Country Estate with great anticipation based on reviews of the hotel. Unfortunately, during our stay, it did not live up to its reviews. The facility was not full when we stayed and yet they gave us a room at the far end of the hall by the noise-making water heater for the hot tub. This heater, apparently, did not provide hot water to our room as our water was ice cold in the shower. After running it for quite a while, we inquired at the desk. They did some adjustment, but the shower was only tepid, which was definitely cold for me. We were told bluntly that “it is what it is,” which is terrible customer service. Strangely the sink had hot water, following the adjustment. Also, at the end of the hall, the Wifi was useless, going in and out constantly. The room was basic at best with a very small bathroom. A new mattress and basic renovation would be beneficial. There was a handicapped shower bench sticking out from under the sink, which was annoying but handy, because the glass shelf at the bottom of our mirror hung at a 30 degree angle, rendering it useless. Our view out the large windows of our room was onto two ugly, large trash heaps. I understand that the heaps may belong to another property, but really, Bru? On a positive note, the included breakfast and the optional dinner buffet were nice. The staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and very clean. The mattresses were very comfortable and breakfast was delicious! This place had everything even a hot tub. It was also a great place to see theNorthern lights. We saw them 2 out of 4 nights. Great location, 30 minutes to Golden Circle and 2 hour to Vik

The main building is brilliantly decorated, I love the vibe of the place. The staff is similarly very kind. I arrived on the wrong day, and they were able to fit me in, which I was incredibly grateful for. One negative however is the room I received, being on a lower level I heard stomping from above often (until the evening), and the walls were relatively thin (I could hear a coughing neighbour quite a bit). Despite that, I still slept well and enjoyed my stay. Would go again (if I could avoid rooms on that level).

We had a wonderful three nights here. An excellent location as a base to explore southern Iceland or - more importantly for us - Landmannalaugar and Pingvillar National Park. It is located a twenty minute drive into Selfoss. As for the Hotel itself - very nice staff, a very peaceful location, a great continental breakfast is included in your room price, and we would strongly suggest you splurge for their buffet dinner, especially if it includes Icelandic Meat Soup - which was delicious.

Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit toller Einrichtung, wie bei Omi zu Hause :-) So schön das Haupthaus auch ist, so spartanisch sind dann leider die Zimmer. Kalte Betonwände und Böde, sehr industrial, wenig gemütlich leider Die Umgebung ist toll, wenn man Glück hat kann man Nordlichter sehen. Frühstück war sehr lecker und ausreichend vorhanden

Unser bestes Hotel, das wir je in Island hatten (5 mal bereits dort gewesen). Es wird mit Herz geführt, das Essen mit Liebe zubereitet. Das Frühstück ist von höchster Qualität mit lokalen Zutaten. Die Mitarbeiter extrem freundlich, schon familiär. Selbst die Hunde dürfen mit rein. So richtig schön ländlich und doch absolut wertig. Tolle Kombination! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und probieren das nächste Mal das Abendbüffet.
