"The staff were so friendly and kind to our dog as well. We normally stop in the area on the way down to Portugal which we visit frequently. We will definitely be staying again. Good walks from the hotel along the river and very central location so access to facilities, restaurants etc. Free parking too."

"Charming beautifully decorated cottages. We enjoyed fire place, deck, library, and pottery workshop. There is a delicious healthy breakfast served in the cafe every morning. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. We hiked to a nearby village. We will definitely come back. "

"What a fantastic hotel! Central and easy to reach the castle and town. The receptionist, Fatima, was wonderful, and we had access to our room, two hours early. "Quinta das Lágrimas has such an important and interesting place in Portuguese history, which we enjoyed learning about during our stay. The old house and surrounding gardens are beautiful and romantic, even in the winter. "We were upgraded to a corner room with an oversized balcony looking out over the pool to the river. Spacious room, quiet, plenty of shelf and drawer space. The staff were amazing, Portuguese-friendly. Breakfast was very nice, with lots of hot and cold options including an omelet station. Location was very walkable to the Old Town, and also to the opposite side of the river and the Santa Clara monastery, plus walkways on both sides of the river."
