"Recently stayed at The Union Gables Inn for my wife's birthday and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Everything from the location (so close to downtown and the horseracing museum/race track - both within a very quick walk), the building (my wife was in love with the room, the victorian architecture and antiques) and the staff (all so friendly and eager to help or chat). "This is a great location. And the place is immaculate (albeit sparse). But it is a renovated motor lodge so our (inner facing)room did not have a window in it except in the bathroom. And there is absolutely no insulation on the doors and the common space (which appears to have been a pool at one point ) was beyond noisy, starting way too early. I think for the sake of everyone’s comfort thinking about a new insulation plan would be the most obvious choice for the hotel - because there is nowhere...

"The staff was friendly. They had the wrong room for us when we went to check-in, so we had to wait another 30+ minutes to check-in. That was frustrating, but we were offered a beverage and snack for each of us. Once you get past the lobby, the space is dated, but everything was clean. "The Shuttle drivers were excellent, as were most of the staff we encountered. It was a nice historic hotel and had a nice atmosphere. Disappointments however were that there was no breakfast service the two days we were there...and no Spa opportunity on Tuesday because the Spa was closed Tuesday. "Everything! Not at all what its advertised. Its a ghost motel. I was the only resident for 3 days. Nob and tube wiring, bathroom door showing signs of damand and would not close. The coded door knob that did not always respond, no daily trash pick up or dirty towel pickup. Half the sign was fenced off. Spotty internet access. I got to watch squatters being removed and had to worry about my safety while the squatters stuff lay 50 steps from my door. Owners not on the premises only saw one...
