In order to book this hotel, I was not allowed to use American Express credit card. Ok. Not sure why?
After booking, I received an “alarming” email from the hotel saying that my reservation would be “down graded” if I didn’t not prepay immediately. I ignored this.
Then I was contacted again by the hotel to do pré-check in. I decided to do this because I was on business and would be rushed on arrival. 45 minutes later, I completed this ridiculous pre-check in online. Ugh!
The hotel is nice. The elevators are confusing, hot, and very slow. I learned to plan ten extra minutes from my floor to the lobby each time I needed to leave because elevators were so slow. And I always ended up sweating due to the heat in the hallways and elevators. The elevator cards are totally confusing. If more than one person enters, the last card appears to cancel the previous passenger’s card. Every guest I met in the elevator complained about the odd system.
Not a great location if you want to walk on the beach.
On check out, the team at the desk insisted that they could not give me an itemized bill that separated out room from tax. Impossível they all said due to my “Expedia/Hotels.com” reservation.
There are other options in São Luis.
