We stayed in this Paradore for one night on a half board basis , thoroughly enjoyed it The evening meal was well worth the half board and did not disappoint . Cheese board was very good too. The village location , although very touristy, was full of historic architecture and would be a good base for exploring the wider Cantabria region. Also convenient for driving the short distance to Santander if you are catching the ferry to UK. One tip, park your car in the local car park (7 Eur for 2 days) as parking right by the hotel is difficult due the hotel being in such a historic area .

Santillana del mar is a fantastic medieval town and the parador hotel is right in the heart of it, with a building matching the sUrroundings inside and out. We loved the rooms with balconies overlooking the coirtyard and huge shuttered windows. A wonderful place to explore on foot, and the nearby altamira caves. We also visited comillas- another great place to explore, with a whimsical house designed by anton gaudi.

This is a lovely old hotel with fabulous grand old rooms. Lots of charm. Bit tricky to drive to, last part of journey is on narrow cobbled streets full of visitors, but take your time and you’ll be fine. Hotels in a lovely big square with parking opposite and easy to get into. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, picked up breakfast from a lovely little panaderia two minutes walk away and the lovely village is literally in the doorstep.

Charming hotel in the center of town

Beautiful room with two balconies and lovely furnishings. The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was cavernous. The hotel is in a wonderfully decorated historic building in the center of town. A perfect place from which to enjoy Santillana Del Mar. The only point against them is that there is no coffee maker or kettle in the room. Parking available in their lot for a small charge.

Excellent hôtel and wonderful food

The service and staff was very helpful. They supplied my wife with wheel chair so she can get around your hotel without using stairs. The medieval architecture was very appealing. The restaurant had a good selection of food. The food also was very good.
