"This hotel is close to downtown Catania (about 2 km walk). We were able to choose between a room downstairs or a suite upstairs. We chose the suite because it had a small kitchen and a private terrace. You have to take fairly narrow spiral staircase to get upstairs but this was not a problem for us. "They literally ghosted us. We ended up stranded up, knocking on the door for like an hour at night. They have no phone number listed anywhere. We had to ask around and talk to a hotels.com virtual assistant to eventually get a phone number. They didn’t see our booking and overbooked. They eventually got a friend to accommodate us for the night (a stranger picked us up in his car, scary but he turned out nice). But obviously it was very stressful and unprofessional. "We arrived at 1pm and were told our room would be available at 2pm. Then more guests arrived and they too were told their rooms would be available at 2pm. I mean, you can't have 3 rooms all done at the same time so if you don't want folks checking in before 2pm, just say so. We requested help with our luggage as we didn't want to drag our bags from the parking lot to the reception (a few mins walk on very bumpy, cobbled grounds), and had to wait a good 15mins for the "bellboy" to show up, after asking reception a few times for an update. Apparently, their luggage trolley was in use so the bellboy just dragged our luggage anyway. Turns out, their staff was using the one luggage trolley this big resort had! We returned at 5pm to check in, and while our room was ready, no one bothered to move our luggage into the room. We picked them up ourselves and dragged them through the resort and up to the second floor. I should note we had to go into the backroom to find our own luggage too since the staff was super helpful [insert sarcasm]! The room was waaay below average. It looked like something from a cheap saudi prince mansion from the 90s, only the walls were bare, the furniture cheap and the bathroom... oh gawd the smell of bleach was horrible! It was old, with grey stains on the tiled floors and I used that shower out of desperation only! The whole resort screams wannabe luxury in the lobby and reception and stops there. Do not recommend!"

"We had a great stay here for 3 nights. The pool area is lovely and the staff were all really helpful and friendly. We didn’t have the breakfast but we had snacks at the pool which were great. The hotel is a little way out of town in a quiet area so it’s around €17 - €22 each way in a taxi inc a tip to get into the centre of town by the elephant statue. There’s a bus stop around 10 mins walk away and a Tabacchio near there to get your bus ticket. I would also recommend you take the hotel up on their helpful offer to arrange your airport transfers as their option is about €10 cheaper than flagging a cab at the airport. For the price of the hotel and the lovely pool it’s worth being a little way out of town."

"Overall, have been to nicer hotels (and nicer cities for that matter) but, and it's a big one, the hotel staff was exceptional across the board, in particular the reception team. Truly super helpful and accommodating and it was greatly appreciated. Hotel also has a nice outside area where you can grab coffee and drinks pretty much all day long, we've spent a good amount of time there as it was pleasant. We didn't make it there but spa looked nice too and the prices were incredibly fair. Within walking distance to all the main attractions and the restaurant right across from it is phenomenal. If you do stay in Catania, you won't regret staying there."

"We had a very mixed experience here. First thing to be aware of is that apparently air conditioning is at the discretion of management. We specifically booked somewhere with AC as we knew it could get hot in May and I’m sensitive to heat. When we arrived we thought it was broken and we were told it was actually off as it had not been turned on for the building yet this season, even though the weather was already hot. Not only was it hot in our room but it was incredibly stale air as there seemed to be very little circulation. It made me feel nauseous. We asked for a fan and they did not have one. We did everything we could to get it turned on and eventually we were told it would be turned on the next day, which it was. The staff at the front desk did try to help but ultimately it wasn’t their decision. If it hadn’t been turned on the next day we would have left. The pool was only open until 6pm so we couldn’t cool off that way either. Very nice looking pool but a shame we didn’t get to use it. The place was also a bit loud. Our room faced the train and the entrance. The first night we were woken up a little after midnight by fireworks being set off in front of the building. Once other thing to note that is that Google Maps will tell you that it is a 6 minute walk from the train station. It is not. They try to have you cross train tracks and a fence. Unless you want to walk at least 20 minutes (sometimes on very busy roads with no sidewalk) then book a taxi."
