Property needs work. Our room had marks on the walls, bathroom was mouldy and water would not drain away in the sink. Very disappointing. So glad we had only booked one night. Highlight of the stay was the male receptionist who booked us in, he was very friendly and welcoming.
Staff friendly and professional, room pleasant with tea/coffee making facilities; small fridge would have been useful for the water that was also provided. Would book again although the brasserie menu was a little limited - not much in the way of fish dishes and would prefer more traditional options. Breakfast was substantial with choice of continental, cereal, fruit as well as good range of cooked items

Expensive parking for a hotel you can only access by car, hard beds and creaky floors. Clean property and polite staff though

The staff were excellent and very helpful at check in.
Parking is good
Didn’t stay for breakfast as had to leave early
The room was tired but bedding was clean and the room was a good size
It was a really warm evening and the staff provided us with a really good fan
Overall it was a good stay. The only issue I had was that you have to pay an overnight car parking fee and this wasn’t disclosed on Expedia. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly too.
We found the Mercure staff , particularly reception and the bar staff extremely pleasant and helpful.
The only downside was that we had major problems with the tv, which was unwatchable andthe staff said that there were problems with the aerial
Very tired and shabby, can't believe its 4 star, an absolute disgrace that as a resident you have to pay £10 night parking, extractor fan in bathroom not working, toilet seat loose and moves from side to side, rust on the wall from the bath grab handle, sticky tape to repair a cracked window, bedroom furniture chipped and scratched, I found 2 peanuts on the floor which would suggest that the room was not hoovered, as for breakfast we had read other reviews about that and once again it was very expensive, so we went across the road to the garden centre, fantastic selection and great price.
I was very happy with this hotel, everything was clean and tidy, the staff were polite and very help, the breakfast food was plenty and well presented, checkin was also easy and quick, the rooms were well laid out and clean, very happy
