"very nice and quiet just outside the downtown. bit of a walk to the busy downtown area of Reykjavik, but if you don't mind that then its worth saving for a less crowded and easy going area. Plus side it was closer to larger stores you may want supplies from (big grocery/costco/etc) and it was easier to hit the road to drive out to tour different sites. Parking was free if you can find it, but there was a fair bit of street parking so we didn't have issues. Kids loved it, would definitely go...

"The Staff :) the front desk, the cleaning staff, the servers, all wonderful people who genuinely made me feel welcome. To me a bed is a bed, so not much to say there that would be helpful; however I asked for extra pillows and a duvet which was no problem and brought right away. "

"We enjoyed staying at Hotel Island - the concierges were great! Security was good - pass keys for the elevator, and a safe in the room. Brunch was available and the service and food at restaurant was very good, but wasn’t always open according to their posted hours. The housekeeping was adequate. "I arrived in the morning before check in time and was able to leave my luggage in storage. The kitchen was available and there is a nice lounge area to wait. The woman working at reception was very friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms were fairly clean and no wait for showers in the evening. The only downside I would mention is the noise. The room doors would slam quite loudly throughout the night (when people went to use the bathroom) and I could hear people walking around on the floor...
