Hotel Trebol

"We chose a queen room because it was rated higher than the king room online. But the room we checked into had a skylight over the front of the wall that led into the hallway so it was so bright in our room all night long and we had to wear eye masks to sleep. The mattress was very firm and uncomfortable, and the bathroom was extremely hot because it's separate from the main room without A/C. There are open windows in the bathroom so we had a cockroach visitor. The next day we asked the staff to move us to a different room with no skylight and they said no problem, but then when we returned from breakfast to move, it was a different staff member and they said we needed to pay more to move. We explained the whole situation again and they finally agreed to move us at no extra charge. They moved us to a king room on the first floor that was much nicer. The mattress was still very firm and uncomfortable and there were the same open windows in the bathroom, and the door had windows with an opaque curtain that let the light through, but everything was very clean and a little darker than the original room. The next problem was that our toilet didn't flush. We let the staff know and they fixed it, but it broke again everyday. Also, the staff entered our room during the day without knocking or anything. Luckily we had the latch locked so they didn't walk in on us. The breakfast each morning was good and the location was great, but we will stay elsewhere next time."

"I loved this hotel! It was so beautiful with the traditional Spanish style architecture. The location was perfect close to the markets and the city center parks. The staff was amazing!!! They were so helpful and made me feel so safe as my flight was delayed and I had to stay an extra night without my companion. I will stay there again."

"The room was mildly more than I expected, in that it had a split pack a/c which cooled the room down quite quickly. It also had a coffeemaker (which came with a warning that if you wanted more coffee you'd be charged). The hotel is also well-located for walking around Oaxaca. That said, wow this hotel could be so much more, primarily due to staffing. When I arrived the front desk was surly and unwelcoming, not so much as a "bienvenido." Breakfast starts at 8 (really? 8?) and goes until 3:30 (?). There is a bar set-up, but no bar or bar service. Breakfast is exactly what they will make you, your only choice is the single add-in for your eggs (you cannot say "ham and cheese"), which will be scrambled. Checkout was exactly the same, zero interest in me or how my stay was, no offer to call a cab, nothing. The only friendly face in this hotel was the woman cleaning the staircase. If you have a choice, stay somewhere where the management is interested in their guests!"
