"The staff were great however the hotel is looking very dated. The door frame looked like it had been kicked in more than once. The carpets, curtains and overall decor were really old. That said, the room was clean yet basic."

"We had a good stay at Premier Inn Durham North overall. When we arrived, there was an issue with our booking payment. We had already paid through Expedia, but at reception we were initially told that the payment had not gone through and that we would need to pay the full amount again. The receptionist was not very friendly at first and said that this was not their problem, which felt quite stressful after a long journey. "We stayed one night. The hotel was very clean. The staff were very helpful. Only a short ride by taxi or bus into the town centre. Would stay here again. "

The hotel is very tired in most respects. It’s quite isolated also so you need a car to get anywhere. My room was located very close to the A19 so a lot of road traffic noise."

"I didn’t actually stay here I checked in and was shown to the room I went in the smell was over whelming the sheets on the bed look dirty the flooring was worn with gaps and had not been hoovered. I left as I would not stay in such a dump and booked in another hotel "

"The room was nice & clean , a bonus was the air conditioning as it was hot weather . We also ate evening meal there which was ok , breakfast was plentiful with a good choice . We only stayed one night on our way to Scotland & our daughter & family met us there to complete the journey . What was nice was that they were able to park & use the hotel for food / drinks etc . "We stay here regularly whilst visiting family. I love it because everyone is very friendly, the beds are super comfy and there is a bath in the bathroom. It's walking distance into town even after a few drinks in the very reasonably priced bar! It's dog friendly too. Big carpark and surprisingly quiet after the bar closes. Usually football on the TV in the bar which keeps my husband happy (depending on play...) 😅 The Highfield is always our first choice when planning to come to Boro."
