We were disappointed with our stay. We had 2 nights booked from 1/1-1/3. The hotel did not tell us that the superior room that we reserved (and already paid for) was no longer available. They didn't even tell us at check in!! They just took us to a basic room with no mention of the change. When I went back down to inquire, they said that a "water issue" forced the change, but they made no effort to compensate us for the change in reservation. They also did not tell us that on 1/1, our day of arrival, that their reception, bar and restaurant were closing at 5PM. This was our final stop after a long day, and we had planned to settle in with food and drink. Part of the reason we wanted to stay here was because we enjoyed relaxing at the fireplace with a snack and cocktail previously! That did not happen as they were turning out the lights within minutes of our arrival at 5.
They did say that they had "tried" to call me, but they couldn't reach me because of the international #. I found this VERY odd, as I continued receiving "welcome" emails from the hotel up through my day of arrival, none of which mentioned any change to the reservation or the hours that they would be open. This was very disappointing. We had stayed here before and had had a lovely experience, but I do not think that we will return.
