"Original grand building in a pleasant location.
Poor value for money.
Reluctant to check in early, despite agreed that we could to be able to attend a wedding on time.
Disappointing view from Room 7 and 8 even though booking was made 7 months earlier. When this was mentioned to the staff at reception, we were told we had not paid extra for the view.
The staff members in the dining room were very helpful and friendly."

"The hotel staff were kind and accommodating!
The hotel decor was questionable. The elevator (lift) was tiny, the halls are very dark and narrow! The room was clean, however there were several dead bugs (bees) on the window sill. We did not eat there so I can comment on the food! Transportation to and from the airport is 5 GBP per person each way! Bus was close to schedule but rarely on time. I think that the next time we visit London we’ll stay in London instead of Gatwick."

"We’re so glad we decided to stay here instead of some chain hotel! It had so much character & charm. Our room was large & very comfortable. The bathroom was also large & beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. The grounds could use a little TLC (my husband was a landscaper 😉) but they were beautiful nonetheless. There was a wonderful Pub within walking distance where the food & atmosphere was wonderful! Perfect ending to our European vacation. Thank you 😊"

"It was good for a one night stay before an early morning flight from Gatwick airport. Google Maps gave us walking instructions from south terminal but it wasn’t super easy to figure out how to find the right exit.
The beds and room was very comfortable for the night. Didn’t interact much with the staff, they gave info on check in about a shuttle service you could pay for. It was smooth."

"I wasn't aware before booking that this hotel isn't staffed 24 hours a day. When we arrived, we had to call a phone number, and we were then told to collect our room keys from the reception desk. This wasn't something I was expecting.
There is also no lift, so if you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, I'd strongly recommend requesting a ground-floor room. We had to climb several flights of very creaky stairs, and the layout of the building was slightly confusing.
