Sign at reception says to check in at the bar if no one’s available so I went to the bar where the bar maid was quite rude and dismissive.
We were too early to check in (which is strictly 3pm) so we went to the next town and arrived back at 8.30pm and had to go back to the bar to check in as fairly, no one at reception. Unfortunately we got the same lady at the bar who then asked a lady who was waiting tables to check us in and she said she didn’t have time. A lovely gentleman however met us back at reception and took us to our room.
There is no fridge and we were travelling with food so we had to throw out what we had and the only place to eat is the hotel itself for 23km. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful but we were not feeling welcome and decided to stay in our room.
On check out at 10am, no one at reception so I was dreading going back to the bar.
Thankfully it was not the same lady.
We also stayed one less night as our tour in Queenstown was cancelled due to rain and rescheduled for the next week which put us a day behind.
Management agreeing and allowing a refund for the last night was an arduous process blamed on Expedia however our other bookings had to be changed also and were simple, friendly and took minutes.
