I'm giving an overall negative review because I was declined a room when I went to check in, simply because I have a local address. It was late, I had taken a cab clear across town, and as soon as the very friendly and helpful (serious tone, not sarcastic) looked at my ID, he informed me that because I lived locally, their policy would not allow me to check in. I was very surprised to learn this, as Anavada has a very strong marketing campaign on our local radio stations. The clerk let me know he was very new and had no authority to override their policy. He was clearly a good hire in their part and I would like to recognize him for being a kind and helpful person. My phone was dead and he called around to help me find a new booking.
Anavada; your policy discouraged a local business owner from ever recommending you. The Sandman across the street had zero issue checking me in, and went the extra mile after I left your establishment.
