Room was very clean, staff was friendly, valet parking was reasonable. But the room and building in general was very warm. We shut the heat off and our room was still 73°. I guess on a cold winter night I should just be thankful. Also loved that it was in walking distance to some great restaurants and bars. Will definitely be back there in the future.

Portsmouth, NH

The hotel is very modern looking and clean with a beautiful lobby that included a fireplace. A big plus was having a parking garage next door to the hotel that only charged $1 per hour which is cheap considering everywhere else was $70+ and there is only street parking throughout downtown Portsmouth. The hotel room was smaller than I expected, the king size bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was very small as well. The room included a full sized refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, and a dishwasher, which is sort of unnecessary unless you're staying for a week or more. The biggest problem with the room was the floor, it was sharp where the carpet meets the hard wood. The staples weren't visible because they were in the carpet. I had to wear my shoes in the room. The reason I didn't notify the front desk was because we didn't discover this issue until the evening when we were putting my two year old to bed. We only stayed one night so I didn't feel the need to make a big deal about it. On the positive side, the hotel is a 10 minute walk to downtown Portsmouth. They offer complimentary breakfast and a social hour with cheese, crackers, and soup.

When I made the reservation, I made sure to pick a suite (not a studio) and it did cost extra for a suite. However, the hotel was unable to honor the suite and we were in a studio. I would like to understand how Expedia accommodates this discrepancy. We had maid service only one day out of the whole five day trip although we asked for additional service to replace towels and get additional toilet paper.

The property was lovely but unfortunately they were unprepared. We were unable to get into our room until 6 pm because they were short staffed with housekeeping. The gentleman at the check-in desk was lovely, but frazzled because of the staffing shortage. His appearance was disheveled as well the front desk staff this morning. In the shower there was hand soap, shampoo and body lotion….no body wash or conditioner. Knowing the weekend would be busy (college parents weekend) I would have hoped they’d be better prepared. Lovely breakfast buffet, but overall very disappointed in the hotel…especially for the rate we paid.
