"The Carmel Beach Hotel was a 10/10 for us!! The property was beautiful, the service was amazing, and the location was perfect for our trip. We did a lot of looking online before we booked here and so glad we did. My wife said it was one of her best hotel experiences to date, trust me she is a tough critic! Would definitely book again"
"Good location and decent value near downtown Carmel. Room was clean and spacious, however the bed was not particularly comfortable and because there was no cross-ventilation or A/C, leaving windows open made for a noisy environment and limited privacy. Plumbing was also very noisy and toiletries were not high quality.
Breakfast was passable, but the scrambled eggs lacked flavor and the OJ seemed very watered down. Of course, there are plenty of great breakfast options nearby if you're looking elsewhere.
Ultimately, not a bad accommodation choice, but not a great one."
"Absolutely superb from start to finish. Staff were incredible, decor was outstanding and the room supremely comfortable. Breakfast is the most unique that we have ever experienced. A truly memorable stay"
"The second guest services man was helpful and changed our room due to terrible noise and musty smell in the first room. He was very helpful. This hotel needs a HUGE remodel however. It is old, dated and the locks on the rooms are very antiquated. The shower/tub in the larger suite was odd and claustrophobic. I’m sorry but I would never stay here again."
"The Pine Inn is an older hotel. Great location to everything! The furnishings are dated but that is what makes the hotel so unique. Rooms/hotels are very clean with beautiful grounds that are so well kept. Amenities - it would have been nice if they had coffee for the guests. We had a very nice ocean view but note the street below can be very noisy at 6 am in the morning. There are no fans or air conditioning so we had the windows opened a lot. The restaurant at the hotel has a great happy hour and wonderful, friendly bartenders. We would stay again at the hotel for the location."
"Big Sur Lodge is truly Nature’s Paradise, surrounded by giant sequoia trees, birds, & the beautiful natural sun.
A place to do some serious digital-detoxing, it was difficult first day due to NO WiFi & NO TV including No clocks. But once you go outside and explore the wonderful nature around, I truly appreciated and loved our time, and actually talking amongst family.
Our cabin was comfortable & clean, only thing I didn’t like is we had no screens on windows (only the bathroom), and it was hot, needed some fresh air, mosquitoes and bugs definitely entered, and we got bit by mosquitoes.
Also, one other downfall was the check-in process, was a 30 minute long wait.
Believe me- this place is worth adventuring & E-detoxing for better peace of mind and reset."
