"Cogne is simply beautiful. Small enough to be charming, big enough to stay busy and entertained. The Chateau Royal was a great home base. Centrally located, comfortable and we'll equipped. We originally booked two nights but added two more as it was such a great village with so much to do. "This property is owner operated and your host Phillipe is quite charming. The property is deep in the hills above Aosta. There are no restaurants or markets. Nothing. The charm of being there is that you can have a nice home cooked meal and breakfast in a 14th century building. The beds were comfy with toasty blankets. We left the windows opened as the temps plummeted. It’s worth taking a walk around the neighborhood. It’s altogether about a 1/2 mile but enjoyable. "
