Starting with the positives - most of the staff at this hotel are delightful. Really friendly and helpful.
We booked a pool access suite for a few nights. We got a lovely welcome at check in with a drink and good explanation of the hotel. We also got a free taxi shuttle to the airport included.
The first room we were given was not great. It had a lot of marks on the ceilings, particularly in the bathroom and you could tell things such as damp had just been painted over instead of being dealt with properly. We did not have a smart tv and a lot of the cable channels were unwatchable due to bad reception. We also could not get any hot water in the shower.
Our terrace opened up to the pool but was completely exposed for most of the day - no shade at all, which made it unusable in the heat and strong sun. The terrace and steps into the pool were also badly designed. The steps were outside the main room door so to get back to the terrace from the pool you had to walk through the main room. You couldn’t get in and out of the pool onto the terrace.
We were given a different room on the second day which was much better - we had shade and this one had a smart tv with Netflix etc.
The pool itself is tired and in need of maintenance. It also needs a filter. It’s full of dead bugs - wasps, flies, moths and filthy. Not a relaxing swim.
Breakfast was sub par for a hotel claiming to be 4 stars. Definitely not worth the extra charges.
