Nice room, great location.

In transit for 3 days. I rented a big room with a nice balcony for a good price. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and friendly. Location is very good, right near riverside. The hotel restaurant had good food at a good price so I mostly ate there. I recommend this guest house for an affordable option with a great location and will likely return.

Robbery

It was terrible, booked 3 rms for 2 days and 1 rm for 1 day. No lift 6 floors. First night room opened twice and items stolen, buy hotel staff, no help from management, two guests left . Next morning the older guests were scared and also left. We were offered no refund for the 3 rms not used for the second night.

Robbery

We had booked 3 rooms for 2 nights and 1 room for 1 night. On our first night there a room was broken into and stuff stolen, we had no help from the owners, 2 guests were elderly and all ended up scared, the owner had a tazer bat when we asked him about the robbery. It was a definate inside job, in my opinion. 2 guests left immediately, and the rest the next morning. The owner refused to pay back our second night monies, for the 3 rooms we didnt use and no compensation for the stolen items.

Very well situated. Clean and good matrasses. Nice bathroom. Lovely staff. The only little downside is that the room has no natural light but not that annoying for a short stay.

Nous nous enregistrons et nous rentrons dans notre chambre d’hôtel à Velkommen Guesthouse au 1er étage, chambre numéro 3. Première surprise : un cafard de la taille d’un pouce dans la salle de bains. - à 18h : nous revenons dans la chambre, deuxième cafard sous la chaise de la chambre et troisième cafard encore dans la salle de bains. - à 21h : nous revenons du dîner de l’extérieur, encore un cafard dans la salle de bain. Nous appelons le service de l’hôtel et demandons à changer de chambre. Celui-ci n’a pas ce pouvoir et applique un peu de produits anti-cafards dans la salle de bains. Le lendemain : - à 07h : encore des insectes dans la salle de bains. Nous décidons de faire nos valises et partir - à 08h : le responsable de l’hôtel nous dit que « c’est la seule chambre qui a ce problème ». Il nous propose la meilleure chambre de l'hôtel en guise de geste commercial. Nous refusons car nous ne nous sentons plus à l’aise ici. Il refuse de nous rembourser. Nous partons. Si c’est la seule chambre qui a ce problème, pourquoi nous l’a-t-on proposé ? De plus il y a une forte odeur d'excréments dans la salle de bains masquée par 3 rondelles de citrons sur l'évacuation de la salle de bains... La wifi ne fonctionne pas du tout au premier étage.

We loved our stay at the Velkommen. We were actually booked at another location and decided to move over here. Lovely family runs this hotel. The owner gave us some fantastic recommendations for taking the ferry ($0.25 round trip per person) just across the Mekong for a adventurous walk. And the most delicious Indian Restaurant recommendation as well. We sat out front enjoying our coffee and watching street life. Many markets close by to buy water and essentials. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

I live just outside Phnom Penh and have stayed here on numerous occasions when I need to be somewhere more central. Apart from its convenient location near the Riverside I really appreciate the consistent and reliable service offered. Rooms are clean and are equipped with all the amenities required. Management and staff are friendly and helpful creating a safe and relaxed atmosphere. Overall it is excellent value for money and is why I keep coming back.

For Phnom Penh this hotel is good.

The hotel location is just around the corner from the river. The room was basic and adequate. Wi-Fi signal was poor and spotty, but may have been just my room. The staff are excellent and helpful. They serve a basic breakfast, pizza (surprisingly tasty), drinks. The front doors close at 10pm but there's someone in the lobby to let you in. Close to restaurants and night life. Phnom Penh is a busy city so street is usually busy and noisey. There's a street market a block away. If that's your thing it's great. Or if like moi, just walk the other way.

Poor description

There were over 70 steps up to the room, (and no lift) which was advertised as being 16 sq m. It was only 12 sq. m, in spite of the owner / insisting that my measurements were not correct and stating that 'no lift' was on thein the description (it wasn't). The 'courtyard view' In the description turned out to be the wall of the next building. The small room did not have anywhere to hang clothes other than a short row of wire hooks on the wall. It is unfortunate that the description was incorrect and partly contributed to a negative opinion. The staff were fine. I did not use the restaurant / bar facilities as I was unhappy about the stairs and small room, which were disappointing.
