Dissapointing
Bed was ok batroom could with a bit of maintenance. I could!'nt switch off all the lights had to unscrew the bulb on one but the other wouldnt turnoff the safe woudn"t close i told them 3 days running and gave up the service not the best. I woudn't stay there again.

Staff had no idea. Totally unorganised. Couldn't get the room i booked. Couldn't work out that i paid when i booked online. Rooms on the top floor leaked when it rains and had to move out of them. Very old and desperately needs renovation. Wallpaper peeling off. Windows so dirty you cant see out of them. Had to ask 3 times for a jug to boil water. And the list goes on.

The service is OK, but the room is terrible dirty - filthy condition. Cigaret but was on a bathroom floor, floor is dirty and sleapery. It was a good think we were staying there just for few hours, mainly to use a bathing and keep a luggage in a safe place. I'm sure the bed was full of surprises as well, great thing we haven't use it. Sheets were not fresh just by looking at.

The property did sit on riverside but you better be ok about the noise. Cleanliness not great but for a one night stay it was ok. Had instant coffee in room which was nice and hot water. To know where you are and how much you pay, it was expected.

Drainage always blocked
The drain in the toilet has to be fixed, i have stayed numerous times in this hotel, always have the drain blocked... please fix it

don't buy the breakfast option paid for 2 but could only get 1 its cheaper to buy off of the regular menu I did not want more food which was pretty small portion just second cup coffee and they said no but I paid for 2 they charge 10 usd to have outside guest in the room if you sit down in the terrace you have to order food or drink cnat sit down for 15 minutes to do e mail

Wonderful staff
This is a great hotel i've stayed here 7 times always been comfortable and clean.the staff are wonderful and very helpfull and always got a smile.the location is the best right on the river front.seating area outside is great to have a drink and just watch the river and things going on.it's the only please i stay in phnom penh.they also have a mini mart on site ajoying the hotel really handy.

Good location but not that clean
The hotel is located very centrally near the river and main attractions. Staff are also friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are quite dated which is fairly typical for many of the hotels in Cambodia (and not usually a problem). The main issue is that the room was not very clean. There was also the smell tobacco. You don't mind a dated room, but this is a problem when it is not cleaned properly.

Pay this price only if you really need river view
Not worth the price other than for the location. Only booked the river view room and breakfast to use up a free night with hotels.com. The mark up for the inclusive breakfast makes no sense when it is delivered from the restaurant across the street where I could have bought it cheaper.

Run down windowless smoky rooms
Old out of date and run down, smoking is allowed everywhere so it left a taste of smoke in your mouth as most rooms have no windows

Riverstar Hotel, Phnom Penh - recommended
The Riverstar Hotel is not the Hilton, but it is relatively cheap, well located next to the river and nighlife areas. Night markets close by. It was comfortable and staff were friendly. Air-conditioner not the greatest, but I made sure it was on all the time, rather than trying to get the room cool every time I returned

Phenom Penh Riverside Stay
Large corner unit room with king size bed and windows that streached halfway around the room and overlooked the river. They had a restaurant in the lobby and the food was good. Easy walking distance two all the local bars nightclubs which are located mainly in that area. The area is mostly filled with expats in tourists.

River Star review
I stayed for five nights in a "deluxe" room which included a balcony with a great view of Tonle Sap River. This view is what earns the hotel its name River Star. The hotel also was walking distance to the various spots I had to go to for interviews, so I didn't have to hassle with tuks tuks or motorcycle taxis. Lots of good restaurants in the neighborhood, both local and foreign.

Stay was okay near the waterfront and as stated not far from bus station although there are a few different bus stations around. Everything we needed was not too far away within walking distance, markets were very busy too busy for me. We did enjoy a trip to the killing fields and s-21 which was very moving. A tuk tuk driver took us and waited which was very good just be sure to haggle a price before you set off. Overall great location with plenty to do.

Room was basic but clean. Could see it was a bit run down just needed some attention and care to it. Not sure if this is a thing in South East Asia but the beds that I come across in my journeys are very hard. One concern I do have is that on the room door there is no chain or secondary lock to the room which could be a security concern. I found one time the door unlocked opened the door to see housekeeping, who apologised as she thought the room was vacant. Amazes me how a room can have an in room safe but no secondary lock (Go figure). Room can get the sounds of other bars around but dies down eventually (Lucky I had ear plugs). The staff were very friendly, the restaurant downstairs has a very cheap menu but so does many others all along the street within walking distance. Lovely walk along the riverside where you get a lovely breeze. Computer onsite which is free to guests however does not work.
