Worst hotel ever

When I walked into the hotel to check-in, I was told they are closing down for renovation and I would have to move to another hotel a few kilometers away. When I arrived at the other hotel it was like one of the worst nightmares. Would never consider booking this hotel again!!

Excellent Harbour location

I really liked where this Hotel is at Perth there right on the Harbour Foreshore! Also close to the Bus for travel to the Airport and close to shops and city. The Hotel itself is a bit dated and the lifts are old. The Bathroom was dated with old taps and shower. The room and bed was comfortable enough though and suited me for the 1 night I needed in the Perth City. 1 of the LIfts Floor 7 button was broken and because I was on the 7th Floor I kept having to use the other LIft but you had to send the broken number 7 LIft up or down to then press the Lift again for the working number 7 Lift to arrive! That was only a small glitch in really and Overall Nice and relaxing Hotel experience in the Lovely city of Perth.

Comfortable and convenient.

Great location and a great view in a very large room with kitchenette facilities. Excellent price for inner city accommodation and comfortable enough for overnight events in the city. The undercover car park was convenient and about the same parking price $30 as other overnight secure car parks in the city. Staff are lovely and helpful.

Great location and price. The hotel hasn't been renovated for a while and looks a little old. Room was clean though and staff friendly.

The hotel was very disappointing.

The windows were filthy, the hot water didn't work, the lift - you had to press up if you wanted to go down. The one redeeming factor was nice clean linen on the beds.

Cheap but not cheerful

Only good thing to say about The New Esplanade Hotel is the location. Our room on the 7th floor had amateurish and nasty 'repairs' to the bathroom tiling and bath surround sealants, uncomfortable and small 'double' mattress (I had to remove a broken bed spring section which was sticking out of the top of the mattress) and a derelict bar/restaurant area in the reception area. Not at all a good example of a budget hotel in Perth.

You get what you pay for.. and that says it all

Counter staff were not pleasant to deal with and were not accommodating. Hotel procedures are outrageous with staff writing down you entire CC number on a paper!! Not only is that not secure, this is against any Credit Card policy in the world - BEWARE! It is 2017 - you can easily do that online with secure payment options. On elevator (out of 2) had a broken button so it could not get to our floor.

Excellent location with views of Betty's Jetty

This hotel is situated opposite Elizabeth Quay and central to the Perth CBD. Its easy to find, walking distances to everything in the CBD, has parking but that's extra - $30 a night for secure parking. The rooms are spacious with everything you need, but as this is an older building the sound proofing isnt as good as it could be. My neighbour ran a bath at 3.00am and I heard everything. Cheers neighbour. Reception is open 24hours for easy check in and out. This is a good hotel at a very decent price.

A little gem right by Elizabeth Quay

Fell off the plane with no hotel booked, found this one, acceptable price and great location. Room I was in old fashioned, and slight technical glitch with power points only at skirting board, close to floor so power supply for laptop too long and could plug in....accept for in the bathroom where I put a towel in the handbasin to create a surface, and used the shaver/hairdryer outlet. It worked. The bed was excellent, every thing else as you want it. Checked out next day, saying not sure what next and a helpful person sat with me in the lobby while I sorted out some logistics, for about 10 mins, and that to me took it to the next level. Went on my way having paid reasonable fee, great sleep, having had access to many Perth interests, and given more than a smile and lip-service in my dealings with staff. They are apparently about to refurbish, so I doubt I will ever get such a chance again, to witness something before it becomes famous.

cheap and nasty but not cheap enough

Dirty bathroom, broken airconditioner, broken lift. Cant believe this place hasn't been shut down by health authorities because if there were a fire you wouldn't be able to get out. Only good thing was the view but windows were dirty. Bed was a miniature double or something.

Would not recommend

I never book hotels with it reading the reviews but for some reason this time I didn't. I'll start with the one good thing And that's the location. Other then that it was probably worse then a hostel, there were stains on the carpet and walls. The mistress was so old and thin a spring actually popped out and cut my partner. The hotel staff were friendly but honestly if you can afford it stay somewhere els the photos do not represent what the hotel looks like very deceiving.

No parking

Booked what we thought was a cheap hotel to then find the only parking was $30 per night. Staff were rude and inflexible. Room presentation was ordinary with many small things showing the lack of maintenance. Not recommended.

affordable hotel close to city centre

Enjoyable stay in Perth. Glad to stay in this hotel as it was affordable for my needs as I visited with my son. I could be independent and happily access many sites from this base as a first-time visitor to Perth. I loved the view from the window. Lots of activity, outlook, lights and it was nice to be close to parks and transport.

Worst Hotel

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Thank god it was only one night. On expedia website hotel facilities include bar/restaurant which is not the case. There is a vending machine in reception that's it and $4 for small bottle of water. The rooms are dull and dingy, the carpets damp There are fantastic views of Elizabeth Quay but the windows are so bad you can't see out. There was no Electricity besides the lights in the morning time, we couldn't even make a cup of tea.Reception would not answer the phone and when my husband complained they more or less ignored him. On the whole a truly horrible experience! Stay away !

You get what you pay for

I was hesitant to book this hotel after reading some of the other reviews, however the close proximity to Elizabeth Quay, the low price, and the fact I needed it for only three nights, got me to pull the trigger on it anyway. Perhaps my low expectations resulted in me being generally quite satisfied, and I have no regrets about staying there. Sure, it was old and dingy, the carpets a bit dirty, and the bed not the most comfortable, but the room was much more spacious than your usual budget hotel and even had a little kitchenette area which was quite convenient. The bathroom was a decent size as well, and did the job just fine. Think... motel without the free parking. If you're one who expects steak on a hamburger budget and is then disappointed when all they get is a greasy hamburger, this hotel isn't for you. But if you don't mind gorging on Maccas for dinner now and then, it will probably satisfy.

We should have read the reviews!

The location is fabulous. Five minutes from the centre and a great view over Elizabeth Quay. The hotel is so tired although there is evidence of the start to a refurbishment. Some advertised services such as breakfast are not available. The room was very empty. Obviously it used to have more furniture. There were no handtowels or face washers. These are basic even in inexpensive hotels such as this one. The handbasin tap ran continuously even though the room was serviced every day!

Staff didn't seem as if they wanted to be there. Expensive car parking and the hotel seemed very dated. The location is good but staff didn't seem to be able to tell me times etc for attractions eg The Bell Tower.

Smelt like an old folks home

We stayed at this hotel because of the location and it was cheap, we only needed a room for one night. Never again. The room was smelly, and hadn't been refurbished since 1972, if ever! I went to make a cuppa in the morning and they had no black tea, only coffee and green tea ( I don't drink either ) When I went down the rickety lift to ask, the guy at the counter had a quick look, said he couldn't find any and would have to wait til housekeeping arrived at about 8or 9. This was at 6am. I didn't expect the Sheraton for the price I paid, but a cup of tea would've been nice
