"There was not enough information provided to the customer at check in regarding the amenities of the room. Also, one of the attendants at the champagne/breakfast bar was a little rude concerning eating breakfast there. I did not make a reservation there for breakfast the next day because I did not know you had too! If anyone had told me that I needed to make a reservation I would have done so. Maybe someone should talk to the short (maybe French) guy who works there about giving more information about reservations before chastising customers about not making a reservation! Overall, good service and good breakfast selections."
"Unbeatable location for a first time Edinburgh tourist. Close to everything we did for 3 days.
Attentive & helpful desk staff. Lovely dining room & lounge. We had one glitch which the front desk handled perfectly. We took advantage of the pool & sauna. Rooms were contemporary but seemed a bit “tired”.
I applaud they are doing an elevator upgrade. Whilst inconvenient for us being down 50% elevator capacity, it will be appreciated by future guests."
"Great location close to Edinburgh Airport but in lovely countryside (it has a Golf course). Great staff, good dining choices and excellent facilities; lots of gym equipment, large heated indoor pool, sauna & steam. Fantastic rest stop after long travel to Edinburgh or resting place before long travel home."
"Rooms are small with tiny bathrooms. Staff are very helpful but construction occurring on the street in front of the hotel makes more difficult walking at Access."
"This is a large hotel with only two unlinked elevators serving a single elevator bay, with up and down stairs on the same level, resulting in extremely long wait times. When departing, we called for luggage assistance, but after waiting 15 minutes with nobody arriving, we carried our luggage down the stairs ourselves to reach the elevators. Even then, we waited another 10 minutes before we could get into an elevator, as they consistently arrived full.
The suite was very nice and clean; however, none of the USB outlets worked. Additionally, the bathroom exhaust fan and towel warmer were not functioning.
We also encountered an issue with being incorrectly charged for breakfast. The hotel has an unusual setup where the Executive Lounge, which serves as the breakfast venue in the morning, does not officially open until noon. Guests with Executive Lounge access are entitled to breakfast there, but we encountered a staff member who appeared unfamiliar with the policy. Despite our request, they declined to verify it with management and insisted on charging us. The charge was later removed after we spoke with a manager, who was very apologetic and resolved the issue promptly.
While the accommodations themselves were pleasant, the elevator delays, maintenance issues, and breakfast billing confusion significantly detracted from the overall experience"
