Palace Hotel & Spa Termas de S. Tiago is well worth a visit, the hotel is spacious, clean, comfortable and well run. The breakfast is self service with everything laid on for you and is of a high quality. The spa facilities are good, the pool has powerful jets that massage well and the staff are welcoming. The gym is small but user friendly. Situated just outside the lovely town of Penamacor in this sleepy area of Portugal, you get a real treat of a retreat here. I will come again and highly recommend.

Failed to deliver on its promise.

I was quite disappointed. I was wanting to love the hotel, and pulling into the long drive, it looked to impress. The outside is fantastic and has great appeal. Once inside, it felt like a cross between a morgue and army barracks. Crazy dim light, no real decoration, no music or much in the way of a warm or welcome feel. The hallway was so dark and dim until the sensors kicked in, which then provided the same light one would expect from a Soviet era store room. The quarters were equally spartan, with accommodations that do everything required for function, but offer nothing in the way of character. The bathroom continued the theme of sparse, industrial lighting. The shower leaked when using it. And the bathroom tiles are outright ghastly. Breakfast was quite meagre, and they charge extra to use the spa. Hire an interior decorator, hang some paintings and decorations, play some nice music, and hire an electrician to fix up the lights. Especially outside. Once dark, the beautiful stone should be lit up and highlighted.

Muito mal! A piscina paga-se 13,50€ por pessoa, quando isso não está descrito aqui no site. O hotel disse que a responsabilidade era vossa porque marquei através do hoteis.com O pequeno almoço tinha produtos do dia anterior, nomeadamente pão de leite, ovos mexidos, entre outros. O jantar só estava disponível na 6a feira e tinha apenas duas opções, uma de carne e uma de peixe. O quarto não tinha telefone, pelo que tínhamos de andar de um lado para o outro a comunicar ou ligar do nosso próprio telemóvel.

Gostámos da estadia, o local é muito agradável e tranquilo. O quarto espaçoso com varanda. Foi pena o ar condicionado não funcionar. Jantámos no hotel, mas a comida era "aquecida" e não serviram o acompanhamento como estava na ementa.

Demasiadas estrelas para este "hotel"

Os quartos tinham óptimas condições e limpeza. Termas com tempo controlado, sauna não funcionava e preços de acesso a outros serviços proibitivos. Pequeno almoço, do que pior que vi nos últimos anos: falta de quantidade e qualidade dos produtos, sumos de pacote, serviço de mesa (tolhas, talheres...) inexistente devido ao pouco pessoal e à desorganização evidente. A culpa não será só de quem lá está mas muitos de quem "gere" à antiga.

Las chicas de recepción amables y simpáticas todo perfecto la chica des spa mui antipática no nos explico nada no hablaba nada de español nos hizo firmar un papel todo en portugués y no sabíamos ni lo que ponía , el camarero del desayuno no nos dio ni los buenos días el desayuno buffet poca variedad y escaso por lo demás las instalaciones y alojamiento bien buena limpieza y habitaciones correctas

O hotel em causa tem a classificação de 4 estrelas, mas não entendo porquê, pois a nível de conforto, pequeno almoço, qualidade de materiais e toalhas muito abaixo do padrão de um verdadeiro 4 estrelas. A recepção estava praticamente às escuras bem como A sala de estar e de jogos. O snooker apesar de ser pago não tinha praticamente luz. Não recomendo.

4 star jotel with 2 stad standard

Negatives. Staff at reception very poor from when we walked in untill we left. Fridge in room not working, reported it 3 times. Wifi in room was very poor. Breakfast below average. There was not enough staff, hence tables not getting cleared and items not being replenished quick enough. Horrible smell all the time in bathroom. We never used the swimming pool as i thought it was expensive. Positives. We had a nice big bright room with 3 balconies but minus chairs to sit out on.

Escapadinha de fim de semana.

Fim de semana com amigos, hotal espaçoso, limpo e muito bem localizado. Piscina ampla e aquecida. Muito agradável. No inverno a temperatura nas zona públicas podia ser um pouco melhor. Serra da Malcata, Penamacor, Idanha-a-Velha, Penha Garcia ou Monsanto, tudo muito próximo.

Asked for a quiet room. Told that because I had booked through hotels.com and not paid the full rate that this was not possible. Put near reception next to a group of teenagers. For the same reason the gym and pool would cost €12 per hour EXTRA. Pool looked good but gym was basic with little equipment Breakfast was definitely not 4 star

More attention to small details would be helpful.

Breakfast was appalling. On the last day I stayed there were more guests so they put out a different selection of food. When it was just minimal guests the choice was very poor. Disappointed at the €12 charge to use the pool / gym for an hour. Also was very uninviting and dark. The corridor lights were on a sensor - which I do understand for economy and environmental reasons - but there was a significant delay which meant most of the time I was fumbling in the dark which felt a little like I was in The Shining! Waiting on the twins popping out.... Staff - were amenable. Room was clean but lacked facilities such as an iron or tea and coffee making facilities. Was planning on returning with young family but no TV choices for children apparent which is always handy when trying to get ready in the morning.
