"I don't normally write reviews but was very pleased with our stay at the Old Deanery The staff were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. The breakfast was excellent and unique. Parking was good and even the owner of the Old Deanery suggested that we moved our classic car as it was parked under a tree to a more open space. The property is more or less opposite the Cathedral in Ripon so very convenient for the centre of town. Due to the unusual hot weather there were even fans in our room to help...

"Truly one of the worst stays I've ever had. The room smelled terribly of damp, the bed and carpet was ripped and stained, thick layers of dust on almost every surface, mould in the bathroom, shower leakage, and dead plants in the courtyard. The cleaning staff barged into our room in the morning without knocking, waking us up two hours before our checkout time. The staff was basically non-existent, and as the pub only opens around noon, it's impossible to get any help in the mornings. The price...

"Arrival was easy, nobody manning reception but was not a problem, key left on the side clearly labelled and clear instructions etc. Room clean and well presented, good amenities, including tea, coffee, fresh milk etc. Room not perfectly blackout with some streetlight coming in round the side of the curtains, and a faint green light from the fire exit sign, not something that bothers me as I sleep with my eyes closed, but some day dreamers might want a blindfold. Bed was clean, very comfortable...

"We where very happy with all facility. Overall the only problem we personally was the 3 steps going in and out of the property. The last step out is very steep and would have liked something to hold on too"

"Rooms were clean, quiet and had everything you needed. This hotel is room only. You have a key for the front door to come in and out and key for your room. There is a number to contact the owners but only saw them when checking in. Rooms provide tea/coffee and bottled water. It’s a no nonsense hotel which has everything you need in your room for your stay."

"Absolute gem of a place to stay. Gorgeous room with everything you need & so peaceful. The food was really good both for dinner & breakfast. We visited Fountains Abbey which was only 2 miles away. And we could do parkrun with plenty of time to get back before checkout & eat breakfast. Would love to return."

"Absolutely wonderful accomodation. Comfortable bed, clean amenities, exceptionally cosy. Check in was easy, with info forwarded the morning of, so we could just get in, get the keys, and be on with our day. The proprietor let us check out later for a good price as my partner was unwell and needed extra time to recover. We appreciate the exceptional hospitality."

"Overall a lovely stay. Our room was large, clean & comfortable with a balcony overlooking the front garden area. Good to have a fridge in the hot weather. We also appreciated the USB ports & other amenities. Comfortable armchairs & a comfotable bed, although the bedding was a little excessive for the hot weather - easy to remove the top layer though. The lovely bathroom was also a good size with a seperate bath & shower. Our only frustration was the early morning traffic noise - we had to open...

"Booked here as a stopover on the way to Thoresby hall from Scotland as it was only a short drive off the motorway. We booked bed and breakfast at a very good price and we also had an evening meal. Both meals were great and the room even had an air con unit which was fantastic in the hot weather. The place was great value for money and we will certainly be back, can't thank the staff enough who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done and we hope to be back soon."

"I did not like the fact that while I did not book with free breakfast, I was still charged for my coffees in the restaurant. You would think someone staying in one of the Penthouse suites would at least get free coffee in the restaurant."
