Gaustad

Oslo
Relatives of patients at Gaustad Hospital have long enjoyed exclusive access to the area but it is now possible for everyone to stay in the magnificent surroundings.

Gaustad is well hidden from Oslo, even though it is in the city centre. A trip to Gaustad is a holiday in Oslo with everything Norway's largest city has to offer. A holiday in Gaustad is also a proper city break in a vital and vibrant neighbourhood offering nature, shopping and major sporting events.

The closest nature experience to Gaustad is Lake Sognsvann, which is around an hour’s walk away. Walk up along the Sognsvann stream and you will be surrounded by wilderness long before you reach the destination. Ris metro station is only a short walk away, from where you can travel to Holmenkollen, to see the national ski facilities, the Ski Museum and many other attractions.

In the city, inside Ring 3, which passes below Gaustad, you will find the Ullevaal Stadium, where the national football team hosts foreign national teams that visit Oslo. The Ullevaal Stadium area also offers shopping, with famous brands within sports, fashion and toys. Close by you will find the inviting and idyllic allotments at Tåsen and Bolteløkka, where you can take a stroll between small, charming summer houses and well-tended allotments.

In addition to all of these great places located in close proximity to Gaustad, the metropolis of Oslo unfolds at the feet of the visitor, with major tourist attractions on offer. The Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ships museum, fjords and the countryside can all be found nearby. Oslo also offers world class cultural experiences, including music festivals, opera and world renowned nightclubs featuring national and international artists.

Oslo is surprisingly compact for one of Europe's most vital capitals. The citizens of Oslo have really understood that it is quality and not quantity that counts. This means that distances are short and public transport is excellent.

Gaustad is linked to both the centre and the outskirts, which makes it perfect for holidays. Everything you need from the city is within reach and you can also find tranquillity in some of Norway's most famous and fabled woodlands.
