Canada’s capital, its largest city and a famous natural attraction rest in this province’s southeastern region. Untamed tundra and wooded lakes cover the north.

Ontario is Canada’s central province. It contains Canada’s stately capital and one of its largest cities and links the Atlantic provinces to the wild interior. Outside of Ontario’s highly developed southeast, it also contains a fair amount of its own Canadian wilderness. Tour the main urban centers and branch out into the forest and tundra of northern Ontario.

The province's largest city, Toronto, features a towering skyline over a cityscape of cultured neighborhoods and pleasant green spaces. Shop at the grandSt. Lawrence Market and take a ferry to the Toronto Islands to have a picnic while gazing back at the skyline. Explore historic Chinatown and the redbrick Distillery District.

Canada’s capital, Ottawa, features some of the country’s premier structures and museums. Explore the grounds of the neo-Gothic Parliament Buildings. See landmarks of Canada’s rich cultural history at world-class museums such as the National Gallery of Canada and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

One of Ontario’s biggest tourist attractions, Niagara Falls, on the Canada-U.S. border, draws millions of tourists from both countries annually. The Niagara River drops from a line of cliffs to form several iconic walls of water, one over 2,200 feet (670 meters) wide. Book a seat on a cruise to ride along the foot of the falls.

Enjoy Ontario’s Great Lakes coast and northern tundra. Drive along Lake Superior to find the port town of Thunder Bay. Sail on the vast lake or look out over the water from the picturesque Sleeping Giant cliffs. Thunder Bay is also a convenient gateway to Ontario’s Sunset Country, a wooded landscape with over 100,000 lakes, rivers and streams. Take the Polar Bear Expresstrain to Moosonee on James Bay. From here, organize boat or plane trips into the nearby tundra.
