Beautiful and peaceful escape from the city! The cottages have gorgeous views and everything you need. It’s an easy walk to a number of restaurants and in into town, but at night it’s quiet and away from traffic and noise. Surely the best place to stay in Southern Maine!

Incredibly peaceful location. It’s a half mile from the center of town. Facilities were in great shape. Great for families.

Beautiful location, very peaceful, nice cottage with everything you might need, dishes, utensils, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. Central to town, pretty view of the river and dunes. Not much interaction with staff, have to bring your towels to laundry at office for exchange, no maid service.

We loved our stay and plan to go back. Great setup on the tidal river with boats available to take over to a private beach. The beach was Heaven! The only glitch was when we arrived and found our room much smaller than anticipated. Just too small. Thankfully they happily upgraded us to a larger suite. But not without a significant bump in cost. Not sure if it was the hotel or Expedia description that led us to expect a larger suite. But we had a great time and definitely want to go back!

Family visit
We had a three night stay in the hotel guest room , our kids stayed in a small cottage with their baby. Perfect setting , loved the pool , didn’t love the beach access ( you need to secure a rowboat or walk ). Great town and magnificent views from the property!

Great Getaway Weekend in Ogunquit
The Dunes on the Waterfront is a wonderful, old fashioned resort with cottages and guest rooms within a short walk of downtown Ogunquit. The rooms look out on the tidal river that sits between the hotel grounds and the dune that frames the ocean. We stayed in one of the guest rooms, which is a basic hotel room, maybe a bit smaller than most, but well provisioned with the necessities. The hotel serves coffee and pastries in the morning, and has coffee, tea, and cider available throughout the day for the guests' enjoyment. Just across the street is "The Egg and I", a nice diner with excellent food and a great reputation among the locals. Also just down the street is a fantastic, new barbeque joint called Smokey B's Gin Mill. We ate there on our last night in town and the couple who run the place treated us like family. We highly recommend the ribs which were smoked to perfection and served with their own recipe BBQ sauce.

Rooms well appointed but extremely small
This property is on the Ogunquit waterfront, not really an oceanview, but you can walk across the sand bar at low tide and climb the dunes to see the ocean. We booked a room, which as it turned out, was in a small two story building, three rooms each on the top and bottom floor. We were assigned rooms at ground level, which meant our "overlooking the pool" view was actually of the parking lot in front of our room. The rooms had been redone and were very nicely appointed. However, they were incredibly small, not even allowing the opportunity to open two suitcases. The nightstand on one side of the bed was at a weird angle since there wasn't room to put it beside the bed. The ceiling was lower the normal as well, contributing to the claustrophobic feeling. The bathroom was great with a beautiful walk-in shower, but the CFM on the fan was woefully inadequate, so even the unused towels felt damp. Try to book one of the cottages, which look awesome, and come equipped with screened in porches. The property is a hidden gem but these "hotel" rooms were just too small for real comfort.

Hidden Gem
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Dunes on the Waterfront. We have stayed in various places in and around Ogunquit but had never stayed at the Dunes. We now consider it one of our favorite places and hope to go back soon with our children. It is within walking distance of the downtown area but just far enough away to be a tranquil place of peace and restoration.

A jewel. Private, old timey feel.
It's a private spacious compound away from road noise, close enough to the ocean to hear the surf. A barrier island separates the grounds from the ocean. Warm outdoor pool. Friendly staff.

Wonderful spot with Ocean Views
I felt like I had entered a totally different world when I drove onto the property. I was a little worried at first because the property was so close to the main drag of Ogunquit but was absolutely surprised to find that it felt like I was a world away from everything. The property and cottages were lovely and quiet. There were Adirondak Chairs all over to use and row boats to cross the river to the Ocean. The staff was absolutely lovely and I really can't say enough good things about this place. I was only there for one night as a little get away but would definitely recommend the Dunes on the Waterfront. I am already looking forward to going back!

disapointing.
The room did not have 2 queen size beds as advertised. Pool was heated but closed. Low ceiling in room, felt like cheap motel. No privacy. We had to keep the curtains closed all the time.

Beautiful, Cozy and Relaxing
This was the perfect getaway for me. The cottages are beautiful and overlook the Ogunquit River, the Dunes, and out onto the Ocean. It's a 10 or 15 minute walk to the footbridge that connects you to the beach, or you can row or swim over at high tide or walk over at low tide. The whole place is quiet and restful with beautiful landscaping and friendly staff. Some of the cottages have fireplaces and kitchens, and all of them have adirondack chairs out front so that you can relax in the shade. I'll definitely be coming back.
