We had a toilet unit right outside our only window. which made our room smell. The couch was very old and misshaped. The bathroom had very little water pressure in the sink and when you turned on the shower the drain would stink up the whole room. We were in the newer part 412 and while it was comfy I wouldn’t stay there in the hot month.

Nice hotel within walking distance of train station. The hotel building is a bit old, so sound-proofing is not the best but it was not too loud. Electric sockets were in random places but made it work. Lastly, breakfast at hotel was included and very good. The amount of food for breakfast exceeded my expectation based on the size and location of this hotel. Staff were friendly and good.

We were looking to experience the “old charm” of Odense & while the Hotel is lovely in many respects (staff is amazing, the bar & lounge is welcoming and nicely appointed. Drinks are exceptionally crafted and the complimentary breakfast offers a beautiful array of pastries, hot food choices, yogurt & granola, fresh fruit & more), unfortunately our room was very tired. The bathroom had a sewer odor, the toilet was stained & took several flushes to evacuate and our sink kept clogging so it filled every time you ran the water & took several minutes to drain. We didn’t spend very much time in our room so we didn’t complain and we shared this info w/the front desk at check out. Maybe not all bathrooms are in this same state at the Hotel, in which case, The First Grand is a lovely place to stay!!!

Odense was such a classy town. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious restaurant with great seafood. 10/10 would come and visit again

Maria was very helpful with directions to HC Andersen’s Museum. Also helped me book train to Aalborg. The staff is very nice, and friendly. Room is spacious. Bed was comfortable. One thing tub is very deep, people with mobility issues may have a problem getting in and out of tub.

This hotel was OK but overall I did not enjoy it very much. I thought the check in time was excessively late at 4 PM. This is particularly irksome as the check out was fairly early at 11 AM. The room itself was very distant and required a lot of walking to reach. That walking required going up and down steps in at least two areas with no other options to get to the room. This would have been a significant problem for people with limited capabilities, such as seniors. The room itself had no form of climate control. there was just a desk fan, which actually did an adequate job. I was able to work around these issues mentioned, but I do believe the hotel should have notified me about these issues in advance. The breakfast was fairly good and kept the standards of the industry. The area around the hotel was as nice as it will get for that town. The city of Odense just does not have a lot to offer. You can see everything there is to see in may be a half a day.

This is an extremely dated property that appears like it was from the 1950s. It was also ridiculously over-priced. We paid half the amount per night for a 5-star hotel in Copenhagen that was vastly superior.

I should have known we were in trouble when they provided free ear plugs. There was lots of yelling and screaming on street until 1AM. The bathroom was a bit rundown and has a weird shelf over the sink which made it difficult to use. The location was nice to walk to local sites but would not stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful! The staff was very kind. Breakfast was excellent. The room was disappointing. The bed was very hard, the windows would not remain open (broken latch or so), and the chair in the room looked like it had seen better days (years ago).

Charming cozy quarters in central Odense
Charming old building, centrally located in Odense. Delicious breakfast with many different options. Cozy bed. We loved the frosted glass wall between the shower and the room: it gave a very warm and pleasing indirect lighting option. (This was in the queen size room. The king size had a bathtub and may not have this feature)

The hotel location is great and the rooms are comfortable. The staff was not especially helpful or friendly (we were not greeted at any point in the hotel, and it felt like we had to work even get the attention of the front desk staff). I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we make it back to Odense, but I might look at other options too.

This was an excellent hotel. It is certainly located, but still quite at night. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast, which was included with my room, was the full spread (eggs, bacon, pancakes, smoked salmon, etc) and was excellent. I would value the breakfast alone at $30 (~190 DKK). Overall, I would happily stay here again.

Charming Hotel
Charming hotel in the heart of old Odense. Hotel is conviently located so that one can walk around historic Odense. Please note that the hotel is older, but it is well kept. We would stay there again.

Deceptive pricing when booking with children
The hotel was fine. The reason for the low rating is the following: After booking for 2 adults and 1 child I was contacted and told that if I wanted a separate bed for the child there would be one charge for a bed and another charge for extra bedding. With all the bookings i have made on Hotels.com I have never experienced the hotel not providing a cot, foldable bed or sofa bed (of course with bedding) depending of the age of the child. Apparently this hotel expects the child (up to 17 years old) to share a single bed with one- or a double bed with two adults.

Historical building.
Beautiful historical building, lobby, bar and restaurant very nice. Room was a good size a bit aged but I’m sure they have nicer ones. Breakfast was excellent, a lot of choices.

Charmende og hyggeligt hotel MIDT i Odense centrum
Hotellet er charmerende og placeret midt i centrum af byen. Vi tog 3 overnatninger på hotellet og var meget tilfreds. Fordele: - midt i centrum af Odense C - gode faciliteter (en rigtig god bar og morgenmad buffet) - rumligt og hyggeligt værelset på 3 etage Ulemper: - meget støj både om aftenen og om morgenen (pga. placering) - ingen AC på væreslet (vinduerne skulle åbnes for at få lidt kølig luft men så hørte man jo en del fra gaden) - væreslet og møbler (udtagen sengen) var slidt e og ventilatoren i badeværelset så meget “sort” ude (tror ikke, at den er blevet gjort rent i et langt styk tid). Mini køleskabet virkede heller ikke (og når temperaturen er 25 plus om dagen er det lidt øvh, at man ikke kan opbevare kolde drikkevarer i væreslet). - ingen parkering ved hotellet selv men der er flere parkeringsmuligheder meget tæt på hotellet.
