My partner and I stayed in Tanadewa for two nights in July. It is a nice, private and clean place but in a remote location. Both of us were happy with the hotel facilities. However I don't think we would go back again due to the terrible experience with the hotel staff. During our stay, we asked the front desk to arrange a day tour with a private driver for us. A male staff showed us a price list, which was 600,000 rupiahs for 10 hours' trip inclusive according to him. We agreed with that price and confirmed we would depart at 11am the next day. However just 1 hour before the departure time, the same staff rang us and said the price is 726,000 rupiahs instead of 600,000 rupiahs, as there is service fees and tax, which was totally contradicted to what he told us previously (not on the price list either). We weren't happy with that, it was rip off apparently, but we were in a very tight schedule, and didn't have time to find another driver on-line, so we decided to go with him (and of course that male staff became our driver for that day!). During the trip, as he is only a hotel staff not a professional tour guide, he couldn't give us any tourism information, and also because of his limited English, it was difficult to communicate efficiently. At the end of the trip, we paid that price he asked for, but never actually got given any receipt. It would be really interesting to know if the hotel actually received our payment or went into his pocket.
