Lovely building in one of the oldest streets in the city. Although check in was 'different' it worked really well and the gentleman who booked us in was very friendly. The public car park is a short walk away by the railway and you need to pay by cards. None of my UK Mastercard or Visa cards would work with the machines but my wife's Barclaycard did; no idea why but something to be aware of. You can get a ticket for the duration of your stay so no need to go back every 24 hours. There is no restaurant at the hotel but that is not a problem as there are dozens of cafes, bars and restaurants in the area, in fact we were spoiled for choice. The room was huge, as was the en suite and the bed was very comfy. The fridge was a bit noisy as was the air con but not enough to disturb our sleep although the local beers may have helped! Thoroughly recommended and will certainly be going back.

Caveat emptor!

I don't like leaving negative reviews but I really don't understand why this hotel gets a positive rating on Hotels.com. No breakfast available, the room was not properly clean. Other review sites mention these issues, so I guess it was my mistake not to check more closely before booking.... If there's no breakfast, why don't check-in staff make sure you're aware of this and suggest local options (I went to the excellent DownTown cafe/restaurant a few hundred metres away). On the upside, it's well-located, a nice historic building with reliable Wi-Fi (which often don't go together!). With better cleaning and proper info about breakfast, this would be a nice hotel...

Check-in problems - great location.

Service at this hotel is a problem. I arrived Sunday at 3pm. No one was at the reception - periodically checked until 9pm (there is a nice Galician restaurant across from it case this happens to you). Calling the hotel did not work - the calls went directly to voice mail, stating that the inbox was full... I had to find another hotel. Next morning I managed to check in, no apology. (Still working on getting a refund from hotel.com). The first day the room was not made, the rest of the week everything went well. Never saw staff except on check-in. The hotel location is great, very central. My room was very nice and clean. Air conditioning works well and is quiet. Coffee machine is good. One should be aware that if your room faces the street (mine did) it can get very loud until ~11 from the restaurants below. Bottom line: if the check-in would have worked I would recommend this hotel. Given my experience with the check-in I will find a different one next time I go to Nijmegen.

A missed opportunity for a four stars

This four stars hotel is located in the heart of the city centre of Nijmegen, on a historical street full of lovely shops, bars and restaurants. The location is very convenient, and it is 10 minutes walking distance from the central train station. The hotel is located in a historical building that has been renovated and has an elevator. Unfortunately, I cannot give you entirely positive feedback: the room is spacious but lacks equipment. The bathroom has no furniture, just one hook on the door to hand towels. The furniture in the room is also too few. One tiny hanger and no wardrobe at all. I had to spread my clothes on the sofa and the chair. There is a giant flat TV screen but nowhere to leave my suitcase. There was overall a massive lack of care for every possible detail. Cleaning was superficial, and I only was given a light duvet (in mid-July) without further bed sheets (only a mattress cover). I should not complain because I was given a bed, toilet, hot water, shower and a roof. But I was expecting something more from a four-star hotel that I paid almost 150 euros per night.

Inchecken was erg raar. Kwam voor dichte deur en pas nadat ik nummer hotel had gebeld kwam er iemand open doen om in te checken. Daarnaast was airco stuk en werd deze niet gerepareerd. Verder op geen ontbijt na prima.

Een teleurstelling

Een teleurstellend hotel. Dit hotel heeft 4 sterren??? Positieve punten zijn de centrale ligging, vriendelijk personeel en de badkamer van de kamer in de nok. Verder was het treurig. Het was heel shabby. We hadden al een upgrade genomen naar een suite, maar kwamen terecht op een zolderkamer (en niet zoals het bij een suite is 2 kamers) Uitzicht over de stad was dat je uitkeek op de achterkant van huizen. Er is geen ontbijtgelegenheid, maar het hotel er tegenover bood deze service wel. En waarom hangt de tissuedoos in de wc en niet in de badkamer?
De waterkoker was vies
Het koffieapparaat lekte zonder dat het gebruikt werd

Prima verblijf in de Gulden Waagen

Een leuk hotel met mooie kamer ,zat aan een rustige kant. Wel vind ik het oppassen met de 2 opstapjes. Gelijk bij binnenkomst zat er al 1,struikelde bijna de 1e dag omdat de gordijnen dicht zaten vanwege de hoge temperatuur die dag. Was toen even vergeten dat het opstapje er zat. Met de gordijnen open ook wel steeds even oppassen. Fijn bed ook. Maar jammer dat het ontbijt niet in hetzelfde hotel zat maar in een ander aan de overkant. Verder vriendelijk ontvangen bij de receptie bij aankomst.

Allt var dåligt. Receptionisten satt på krogen mittemot ingången men kom inte förrän vi ringde, gick tillbaka till krogen efter nyckelutlämning. Hår i duschavloppet, duschreglage/täckbrickor lösa, ingen taklampa, otroligt opraktiskt rum utan avställningsytor, luftvärmepump men utan fungerande fjärrkontroll, Netflixmöjlighet på TV men inget abonnemang mm mm mm.

Hotelli kaunis ja huone siisti. Minijääkaappi lattialla. Sviitissä iso kylpyhuone, amme sekä erillinen suihku. Naapurihuoneiden äänet sekä kadun äänet kuului selvästi sisälle. Vastaanotto ei ollut auki kun saavuimme, ovikelloa soittamalla sai puheyhteyden isäntään joka tuli avaamaan oven. Hotellissa ei ole ravintolaa Hotels.comin tiedoista poiketen! Hotelli keskeisellä paikalla palveluiden suhteen. Kokonaisarvio 3,5 tähteä.

Mooi pand, maar service onder de maat

Een mooie historische locatie, waarbij de kamers goed waren gemoderniseerd. Doordat de receptie helemaal niet is bemand duurde het bijna 20 minuten voordat er iemand kwam om ons in te checken. Deze persoon meende dan ook nog eens gemaakt leuk te moeten zijn en uitgebreid over zijn wc-avonturen te moeten vertellen. Daarnaast was er geen ontbijtmogelijkheid.
