Pretty good location, almost anywhere I'd want to go in Nice was little more than a 30 minute walk away, with lots of good public transport for most others. Only issue with location is that I was frequently going to palais des expositions which doesn't have a direct route by public transport so walking was usually faster.
I can't speak for the "student" aspect of the hotel as I used it just as a room for a few nights and never went to communal areas. But the room was clean with a good view and reasonably sized and a comfortable bed. My only other gripe was the door closing mechanism was inconsistent, you have to really tug on a door to ensure it stays closed sometimes I'd be scared when coming back to an open door and worry something was missing, but on days I put a lot of weight into closing the door it was fine.
