The Executive Inn
They could tell you when booking that they were renovating. They could also give you a club card to use in the club to obtain club prices. I could have saved a bit if they had done this (or at least informed me of the savings.)

To start with the paid parking system is confusing and poorly handled by staff. So bad that the front counter staff didn't even know what code was needed to leave and return to the carpark on foot. Front counter staff were't friendly and vey impersonal. Access to the hotel and rooms id via a keypad ...

Dirty rooms, cockroaches, nightmare parking and friends who booked a room for 4 were given a room with one bed and told nothing could be done

Holiday Inn Express Newcastle by IHG
Hotel itself was fine, room also fine. No issues with actual accomodation. Did decide to eat at Hotel. Food was poor. Complained and was refunded.
